I went with my husband and daughter for lunch. Food was excellent and really good portions. Service was good and good value for money.

Clean comfortable rooms. Friendly staff and great food. Only downside unfortunately is that breakfast doesn't start until 10am but a breakfast box is available. Do yourselves a favour and maybe have self-service cereals and fruit available. Other than that great wee hotel.

Went out with friends on Saturday 16th August for a nice bar meal. Food was awful, menu not good and waiting times ridiculous. The food was also overpriced. Meat was thick and chewy in steak pie, chicken pieces stringy and hard to cut. This used to be a firm favourite of ours but we won't be back shame

    1. On arrival at hotel I was informed that a cooked breakfast was available from 10am and a breakfast box was offered for anyone wanting an earlier breakfast. This consisted of a croissant, a muffin and a cereal bar! Nowhere on the booking.com website is it stipulated that breakfast is so very late. Nowhere on the booking.com confirmation either. Nowhere on the hotel's own website. After booking.com confirmed, I received a separate email from the hotel that mentioned this but ONLY AFTER CONFIRMING. This breakfast timing in my opinion is almost unheard of but all the existing negative reviews on this subject seem to make absolutely no difference to the hotel management/owners. Having complained twice about this to reception I was given a £10 refund for each room booked. Secondly, staff do not arrive back at the hotel until 9:30am. Maybe that's why breakfast is so late! 2. In the room, water from the taps is undrinkable and you're alerted to this by a sign on the bathroom wall. Instead they provide approximately 1 litre of water in a bottle, which is supposed to satisfy requirements for all hot drinks made and rinsing after teeth brushing, not to mention water for drinking or filling up my cycling water bottle. Hopelessly inadequate. 3. For my evening meal I had a smoked mackerel platter to start (£7.50)and a burger for main (£16). About 1oz maximum flaked mackerel with 1/4 hard boiled egg and two new potatoes, halved with mayonnaise and 3 tiny slices of a baguette that were supposed to be toasted but were hardly more than warmed. The burger was supposed to come with salad, coleslaw and fries. Salad was a few baby leaves in the bun with the burger. Coleslaw was strangely red cabbage in a little mayonnaise. Fries were typical offering. I didn't bother risking dessert. 4. TV is mounted on an angle poise affair attached to the wall. Fair enough I suppose but I walked straight into it on leaving the bathroom - thankfully just a bump on the head, no blood. 5. TV is a freeview only facility - most modern hotels have a smart TV.

Just had the best Haggis, neeps and tatties EVER. I have lived in Scotland 18 years and this is the best I've eaten. Well presented with a panko style crust, a layer of neeps, topped with a generous swirl of mashed potato. Peppercorn sauce adds a bit of bite. James is an excellent host. Chef and staff are to be commended. Dog friendly inside too. Well worth a visit.

Great food, I challenge anyone to find better onion rings this side of the big river. Crisp with fantastic taste and a lovely crunch to them. What a credit to the hotel that Sofia is her engagement skills are excellent she is a real star ⭐️ and a joy to meet everyone we use the restaurant. Well done Sofia and the chef at Uplawmoor.
