   We’re just back from a visit at the new iron fork @ Station Hotel. Having lived in shotts for a number of years I’m sad to say we were less than impressed. We booked a table for two adults and two kids, mentioning on the phone that we definitely needed the high chairs as we have two years old twins. Arrived at the restaurant and there were no high chairs left. For a restaurant to cater for families and only have two high chairs is ridiculous, more to the fact it’s against the policy of their insurance to not have safe and appropriate seating for minors. The food was less than impressive and the service no better. We won’t be back for food again and will be cancelling our places at breakfast for Santa (9 seats) after our experience today.

   A fantastic local pub and a great stop. The Station Hotel offers a warm, friendly atmosphere and good, honest pub food. The staff are lovely and always make you feel welcome. A proper community hub and a reliable spot for a satisfying meal and a pint.

   Husband and I had a meal on Sat 23 August. Husband had chicken pakora, then steak pie ( plus gravy boat) loved it!! I had mozzarella sticks with sweet chilli dip then chicken fajitas, delicious. No complaints whatsoever about meal. But couple at next table let their son run riot, screaming and jumping all over the seating in restaurant. If you’re going to bring your kids into a restaurant, keep them under control.

   Had a family meal I had the leek and potato soup too pepery.then main course had the steak pie nice soft meat but had a strange taste .the best bit of the meal was the sticky toffee pudding.when out to the car ,no outside lighting in the car park or at the front ,there was an old man in front of me with a walking stick he was struggling to see where he was going.the carpet in the restaurant could do with a shampoo, that was my experience. Friendly staff

   Went here for dinner and a quiz night. Food was amazing! And the quiz night was a good laugh. Staff are friendly and prices are about the same as everywhere else. I would recommend.

   We had been here about 3 years ago, and had a bad experience. Well what a turnaround, entirely different experience this time. We could believe the difference. Service food were excellent, would highly recommend if you are in the are, live near by, or looking for a nice quality value for money place to eat, well done all involved today at the Station hotel.

   We stayed in the hotel for 3 nights , with our kids we had the family room , perfect view , right in the heart of Scotland , 15 minute drive to both Glasgow and Edinburgh, breakfast was lovely had a lot of choices of food which is great for my fussy eaters ! And the staff were so welcoming , and made sure we had what we needed at all times will definitely visit again !!
