We had an excellent stay in Dec 2025. Landed in Glasgow airport at 11am with small children, all heavily jetlagged. Andrea allowed us to check in before 2pm. Slept all the way until 6am the next morning. Rooms are clean and cozy. Breakfast is the best I have ever had in a bed and breakfast. Highly recommend

Update: the owner responded on my review. Seems like it was bad luck for us due to technical reasons. So a few stars extra, benefit of the doubt. Original: Non-responsive to email and enquiry form on their own website. According to booking.com there was availability of multiple rooms, but booking on their own website is cheaper. But after no resonse in a few days availability was gone without any communication...

Gowanlea Guest House is a wonderful place to stay! We arrived very late with delays to the already belated check in, but were greated really friendly and warm. We got the room to the street, which is really spacious and still very quiet. The bed was super comfy! There are a lot of breakfast options to choose from, it's fresh made with local products and everything we tried was delicious (and a lot!). Thank you for the nice stay :)

Over the last decade, we have spent nights in different places, ranging from five-start hotels to farm nobody. The Gowanlea Guest House was definitely one of the best. Best one-word descriptor would be "charming." Beautiful house and accommodations, comfortable, great location, good food and a wonderful, friendly hostess. I wish we could have stayed longer.

The host was absolutely fantastic and couldnt have been more welcoming and accomadating - Andrea was very friendly and was lovely interacting with our dog, he got lots of strokes and even a sausage at breakfast. Our stay was perfect from start to finish. Beautiful, clean and comfortable room with everything you could possibly need for your stay. Breakfast was above and beyond delicious. We would definately recommend and would love to come back. Location was great for us and our host recommend some lovely spots around Loch Lomond to visit a short drive away, aswell as a nice walk to Balloch Castle immediately outside the front door.

We booked a night at Gowanlea Guest House as we were passing by to reach the Highlands Andrea is a very friendly, welcoming host that made the stay very enjoyable. We were greeting with coffee and biscuits at our arrival, which is a nice plus. The rooms were spacious, en-suite, and had all the necessary. It was very clean and tidy. Note that the Guest House is dog friendly, which comes with a small supplement agreed upon arrival. Breakfast was served with local and fresh produce, and was delicious! I warmly recommend staying there if you are around.
