   I’m deeply disappointed with my recent experience at Howdens Stroud and want to warn others about their apparent use of strategic ambiguity when purchasing. After securing a price match for an Ikea kitchen, I explicitly asked if integrated soft-close mechanisms were included in the quote, as this matched the Ikea kitchen’s specs. They confirmed in writing that they were. Three weeks later, when I was ready to pay and arrange delivery for the following week, I double-checked with the assistant about the integrated soft-close feature. They informed me it wasn’t included and would cost an extra £650. Their excuse was that the Ikea kitchen didn’t have integrated soft-close. I clarified that it did. They then claimed the Ikea soft-close wasn’t the superior ‘Blum’ brand. I pointed out that Ikea uses the same Blum soft-close hardware. Despite repeatedly explaining this and highlighting their written confirmation that soft-close was included, they refused to honor the original quote. No apology was offered for the significant inconvenience or their failure to stand by their initial commitment. As a result, I was forced to urgently source a kitchen from another supplier to meet a strict deadline. I plan to file a formal complaint with Howdens, as this conduct falls far below acceptable customer service standards and fails to treat customers fairly. **Be cautious of Howdens’ unreliability as a supplier.**

   2 appointments booked - manager failed to respond by email twice when asked to confirm after first let down. Visited on 5th March and experienced complete lack of customer service even though no-one else was in the store. By contrast Howdens Yate have been professional, helpful and precise in meeting commitments. Our fitter is now sourcing everything from Yate of course.

   Had an appointment booked for a Saturday, at 16:30 the Friday before they called and cancelled. Re-booked for another Saturday at 10:00. Sat waiting around until 10:30 when I had to call and chase them up. They then explained that they didn’t have any Design Consultants available today. Yet still left me to ring them and find this out for myself. Terrible customer service, they didn’t care at all when I called and weren’t interested in helping. Would not recommend, spend your time and money elsewhere!

   Booked and appointment which was cancelled the evening before. Booked a second appointment for no one to show up at all. Called the office and was told that there wasn’t anyone available and the appointment had been missed. Avoid!

   Normally very good, 18 month's ago got kitchen and work tops from them, builder fitted kitchen cupboards etc, they did the work tops very good. Went back today and had young female staff and wasn't very good. I will only deal with the boss from now on
