Nice place for a walk. The ruins are ok but nothing spectacular. Mugdock castle is locked and the other one with a sad history is fenced but maybe better this way.

Fantastic day out on a cloudy/rainy November day! Excellent facilities for our baby (large and clean changing room, and plenty of high-chairs in one of the cafes). We spent a couple of hours walking to explore the two Castles. Will definitely be back!

A fantastic place to visit! The ruins are beautiful — they could easily be used as movie sets. One of them is accessible, while another is deliberately left unrestored to provide a habitat for wildlife like bats, which is just great! There’s no entrance fee, and parking is available too. A wonderful spot for a walk and some history — highly recommended!

To be honest we just went out for a drive heading into the Campsies and saw the sign for here so decided to stop and also walk the dogs. We parked in the east car park which was a little bit away from the visitor centre but still ideal for the dogs to stretch their legs. The visitor centre was quite busy even though it was just midweek on a Wednesday at end of July. I had hoped to get some wildlife photos here but there wasn’t much going on although it was quite peaceful away from the centre.

Great country park plenty of miles of paths taking you off in all directions we usually start up at top and work our way around. Garden centre, cafe’s, coffee shops, play-parks, toilet facilities, picnic benches, plenty of car parking.. even an observatory and much more. Miles of paths taking off in every direction over fields, through woodlands and across marshland. The Castle ruins are a must see whilst visiting too. The park is different depending on the season you come. Different wildlife and vegetation bursting into life.

We looked for a place for a nice walk with our dog. Some place nice, green and quiet. Found this park here online and thought it looked promising. Came by car. Only a 40 minute drive from our BnB. Plenty of parking at the visitors centre at the main entrance. Free of charge. And no charge to enter the park as well. There are some shops, a coffee shop, a garden center, arts & crafts, toilets, a playground. Lots to do. There are several paths leading you through the big grounds of this park. Some very easy and flat. Some more narrow and a bit wet after rainy days. Bring some good shoes to be sure. We loved walking around the park with our English Bulldog. Lots of other furry friends to meet here. And a lot less visitors than one might expect. A first highlight is the Craigend Castle. Or more like what remains of it. Now nature is taking it back and it's fenced off. Some part of me would love to see it restored. Bought I also understand that they like to keep it this way. Let nature take it back for a living place for various animals. Then Mugdock Loch is another highlight. Walk around this beautiful quiet little Loch. Plenty of photo ops and benches for a picnic. The Loch is also the place where you will find the Mugdock Castle. Some really nice remains. Very fun to explore. With tables to make a picnic. A really nice little castle. We very much enjoyed our day here. Follow the map and the paths. Or just start walking and let yourself get lost a little. Surprisingly it's free...something that wouldn't be possible in my country. Not an impressive park of this size with so much to see. A lovely place.

Been here twice now for walks and a picnic. Very convenient by train to Milngavie if you don't mind a walk, and seemed like plenty of parking if you'd like to drive. Two castles and a lake, a garden centre, restaurant, playground all provide lots to do for families, and plenty of open space to have a ramble, walk a dog, take in the sights, etc. Beautiful views of the Campsies and over the Clyde valley from the open field west of Mugdock Castle.

A lovely place to visit. It is very popular with dog owners. Please keep your dogs on the lead if they can not be controlled. We had an unfortunate incident with a dog knocking my toddler down to the ground. There are two castles worth visiting on site.

We went to the loch. Water was generally warm (on the hottest day of the year, I've not been here before so I can't compare it to other days). Generally not deep. Makes for a good swim/sup board session. Beautiful setting with hills in the background and a popular place. The actual car park is a couple of miles from the loch, though people drive up the road and park on the verge. This seems acceptable but it gets busy along the verge so just be aware of this.

My only disappointment is that we didn't have enough time to explore the whole park! To do so would probably require an entire weekend. So much to do in one country park and absolutely stunning surroundings. So many nature trails and old castles & ruins you could easily & gladly get lost! Book the BBQs ahead to avoid disappointment (using website or visitor centre) Oh and don't swim in the lochs. Beautiful magical place, you can really feel the history here. We didn't even get to see half of it and so we intend to go back and see the rest! Would definitely recommend for a day out. Enjoy
