Out to Bristol for the Christmas markets and came here as a group of 6. Amazed at the poor service - lack of stock behind bar - several drinks unavailable. Had to wait ages even though was fairly quiet. We had 2 rounds of drinks - real ale was very good. Ordered a round of Jaeger Bombs - and they were shocking - single measure of generic energy drink and when we asked for some more was told β€œit’s the perfect measure” Well not for me - won’t be back and would advise others not to bother . Hate leaving poor review - but was very disappointed.

Had a last minute late pint in here, great pint of real ale and nice staff.

Not a warm welcome unfortunately. Only here for a hospital appointment and was the closest pub to eat in. Food was average, nothing much to complain about but wasn’t particularly hot. Wouldn’t return.

A very local feeling pub right in the city centre. Decent range of drinks, not a bad price for city centre, always an interesting crowd!

Don't ever go into this pub. The landlord thinks that he's some kind of pony tailed hard case who should be in a psychiatric unit not running a pub. The 3 regulars that were already there were also threatening as if the landlord would turn a blind eye to their conduct. STAY AWAY. Go over the road to the Bay Horse. Dougie must be turning in his grave ( the landlord 35 years ago).

Great bar. We came after an awful day when our visas were refused. Food was good, service great. We participated in the quiz, came second- no shame. Would return if we were in the area.

Horrible. Upon entering repulsive strong smell of skunk from one or more of the customers, I'm pretty sure the bar staff know the problem customer(s) responsible yet probably won't bar them. Added to that not much choice of beers compared to other pubs in the vicinity and the Dry Blackthorn I had was flatter than a Swiss lawyers sense of humour. Only plus to this place is its next to the bus station if you're going anywhere. If you must have a drink whilst waiting for a bus or coach do yourself a favour and go in the Bay Horse over the road. Better on every measurable level.

Great public house. Conveniently located in the City Centre. A warm welcome from the staff and very competitive prices on their fantastic selection of drinks. Makers Mark was less than half the price of the hotel I was staying at. Highly recommended.
