That was the biggest and most diverse store i’ve been to, since we don’t have stores like this at home where i live, i found everything i need for my cats here, from a huge variety of food collection to really cute toys and vitamins too, also there is a clinic upstairs

9th December 2025 I arrived at the shop with my dog a Border Collie who is trained without a lead. I could have left him in the car but he loves to walk with me and sniff. I left him OUTSIDE the pet shop at Craigleith while I went in for cat food, told him to STAY, which he does, and watched that he stayed at door. He did, had a sniff at the large bags of food at door as you walk in, but I looked at him and he walked backwards and stayed outside. I never lost eye contact with him while I was in the shop and queue. PS, I can see over the shelves as I am tall. A lady and her daughter were in front of me in the queue and they recognised him. They asked if it was, and said his name, I said yes, and they got lovely hugs from him, just OUTSIDE the shop. At this time I noticed a member of staff with a red type of lead in her hand, flashing christmas jumper, short dark hair, very petit, talking on her earpiece hovering about the door, looking for something. Never thought anything of it at the time, but then, as I was being served, at the checkout directly opposite the door, and while my dog was still OUTSIDE the shop, I was watching him, I was then rudely asked, well shouted at from the door, if this was my dog, who, I had been communicating with constantly !!!!! I was rudely told he must be on a lead to come in to the store !!!!! In front of other members of staff and customers in the queue. I said yes, he is my dog but he isn't in the store ????? Reply......But he should be on a lead when he is in the store. Just rude and abrupt. How dare she dictate to me how I should treat my dog. The reason he is not on a lead is 1. He is well trained off the lead, and 2. Never ever leave your dog outside a shop tied up or on a lead as thieves are quite happy to walk away with them. Now, 3. Reason I do not take him in as he would cock his leg at anything, but, I was ridicuelled and spoke to by a member of staff. Then a colleague, taller, long fair hair another earpiece on, arrived. They started to discuss me within earshot of me hearing, regarding my dog. As I was so so angry, I walked out, said good boy to my dog, and was disgusted. I would love to Never go there again, but as he is on Ava, I have a repeat order and the bonus card. I have been a regular customer at this Pets at Home, Craigleith, since it opened and never ever experienced this treatment. I have left my dog numerous times outside the store before and staff have gone OUTSIDE to cuddle him and give him a treat. But, I will be back, without my dog, (or maybe with) and if she is serving me or the other gossip, I will ask to be served by another member of staff. I am now going to copy this complaint and put it on community page as I stay in vicinity. Also I will be writing a letter of complaint to the Manager. Hope those 2 RUDE members of staff have a lovely Christmas

Lovely staff but the man dressed as Santa collecting donations for a German Shepard charity was ringing a loud bell non stop. He is next to the small animal enclosures and It is extremely loud. The enclosure asks children to be quiet and not tap the glass, so I don’t think it is humane for the animals to be subjected to constant ringing. I can’t imagine the staff enjoy it either. After trying to explain this to the man, he did not listen and was refusing to stop his constant bell ringing. I think it is totally fair to collect donations but it isn’t a good look if it’s distressing the animals. He doesn’t need a bell lmao that is not necessary

This was our first visit to the store today as we are soon to become new puppy parents. Your staff member Emerson was absolutely amazing and deserves so much recognition. She was polite and so helpful and knowledgeable and couldn't have done any more for us. Emerson explained all about different puppy foods, grooming services, the PAH app which she helped us download and showed us the welcome offers etc. So very grateful she helped us out. She was able to tell us about her experiences as a German Shepherd owner. Well done Emerson, a real credit.

A young employee (male) made it clear (in front of other customers) that he did not want to help me when I was buying my hamster. I also witnessed another young (male employee) pinging 2 rat's in the face while absolutely terrified them. I'm going to phone the RSPCA & also the Evening News regarding this . I'm really disgusted at Pets at Home they abuse their animals..

Toys, food, accessories, you name it, they seem to have it! The staff are friendly, helpful and professional. The range on offer is great and prices are okay. They also have a vet inside and the groom room. I'm giving 5 stars because there isn't much to complain about. They have more products for dogs and cat but you can't blame them as most customers will own one. Having said that they have fish tanks for example and live fish to choose from. I personally don't own pets and do not like the idea of them, but I respect some people do and this place caters very well for them.
