Wonderful guest house in a great location. Massive rooms with a great deal of space to move around in. Beautiful antiques throughout and breathtaking architecture. Much charm and character. Amazing house and worth the money to stay in.

I, being of the broader Stevenson blood, came upon the old house and set my feet within its bounds. At the threshold I was met by a gentleman, neat in attire, clad as one of venerable years, though his manner was somewhat sharp and unwelcoming. Yet, for all his cold courtesy, the dwelling itself stood fair and comely, a place of beauty in spite of its keeper.

We stayed her for 2 nights at the end of April for our 20th Wedding Anniversary. What a wonderful experience. The family are so welcoming and knowledgeable about their historic home and it's famous resident. We stayed in the double room with a very comfortable 4 poster bed. The Victorian bathroom has an original enamel bath. All toiletries and towels provided. If you are looking for history and hospitality we would highly recommend this wonderful home.

Stayed for two very comfortable and inspiring nights in this unique and historical b&b. The Macfies are excellent hosts - and their b&b has all the comforts and warmth of a family hole while you enjoy the privacies and treatment of a top hotel. Canβt recommend it enough.

Called to make an enquiry to book and the person who answered the phone was curt, advised he couldnβt understand me (Iβm from Edinburgh) and proceeded to hang up. I thought perhaps it was a bad line, called back a few times, no answer. Disappointing.

I just love the history of famous people in Edinburgh. It is Great to be able to go if possible to the places where they were born or where they stayed or frequented. I think Edinburgh after London is the Best place for history in Britain if not Europe. Edinburgh was once called the Medical Capital of the world, I still rate it in that high league especially when it comes to history and nostalgic culture.

Edinburgh has many attractions that one might consider visiting and the travel literature lists them almost all. Almost. My visit to the Stevenson house was a real highlight. A Georgian house in Edinburgh's New Town that once was the home of one of the city's great writers, Robert Louis Stevenson. The house is now owned by the Macfie family. Both John and his wife Felicitas work as guides in Edinburgh and know how to tell a story... and have great personalities. Special events can be booked.

Just a stoop to stand on a take a photo. It is a private residence and guests are not permitted inside. Worth the walk if just want to say you have been there.

Wonderful magnificent historical friendly hospitable family home. Lovely breakfasts. Quite unique. Superbly positioned for easy 5 minute walk to fashionable city centre. All the shopping, sight seeing and restaurants your heart could desire on your doorstep. Also can host functions and catering for all tastes on request. Highly recommended. Thank you kindly John and Felisitas.
