i will always recommend Black Freighter to anyone and everyone who says they’re thinking about tattoos; Heather has always taken amazing care of both myself and my grandad when we have been tattooed by her. the atmosphere in the studio is amazing, it’s always warm and friendly in there and all the artists are truly talented in every aspect of their jobs i truly cannot wait to book back in!
Black Freighter have an amazing team of welcoming and skilled artists- and I’d highly recommend them to people looking to get a tattoo in Chester! My family have been getting tattoos from the Black Freighter team for years, namely Patch and Heather. I have a number of tattoos from Heather myself (some pictures below!) and my partner and his sister do as well. The shop is always incredibly clean, and they have toilets available for customers, as well as drinks. There’s plenty of seating if you want to bring someone with you to keep you company, and the team are all really welcoming and happy to have a chat! All of the artists at Black Freighter are very very skilled, and it’s clear that they love what they do. I really appreciate the team, and thank you Heather for my amazing tattoos!

Cannot talk highly enough of this studio. I'm currently getting a sleeve done by Sean Healey and everyone who sees the detail he gets in the images are amazed. Studio is well placed in Chester, all the staff are friendly. So thankful I found this place.

Was told to come off the recommendation from a friend. Since being once I've been back for 3 different tattoos including a sleeve. The work is phenomenal and everyone there makes you feel welcome and comfortable. Will definitely be staying here for all my future tattoos and sending all my mates here as well
First time here today but certainly not the last. Back in Chester after a long time away, was shocked how many parlours there are now so read the reviews, looked at the examples and decided to give Black Freighter a go. First off, what a brilliant space! Handy on Lower Bridge St and lovely inside. I was booked with Sean and he is one of the nicest blokes you'll ever meet - as well as being a brilliant tattooist. Absolutely delighted with the results, the process, all of it, will be back to Sean again very soon.
