   Lack of care, attention, communication... The list does not end there. My sales agent recommended Taylor Rose and I knew I should have gone with my own conveyancer. The conveyancing process started in August, with little to no communication throughout Sept, Oct, Nov and December, despite the fact that both myself and the agent were chasing up, asking for updates, searches or any info on the purchase. Come November, after asking to confirm the progress and clarifying multiple times, we've received an update that Taylor Rose requested searches FOR THE WRONG APARTMENT. Then in December I received an amended contract to sign and been promised that we were going to complete before the 18th of December. Then the date got pushed to the end of January, and the end of February. We are now in March and that's when my conveyancers started the SOF procedure, which bizarrely, should have been conducted back in August, has now started 7 months later. After taking another week of asking for 40+ documents, they dropped my case and presented me with a £2400 bill with ZERO evidence of any work being done on conveyancing - no searches, no TR1, no lease agreement, What should have been a straightforward cash purchase of a newbuilt apartment, has dragged on for 7 months, zero work has been done, I have an EXTENSIVE list of unanswered emails chasing up conveyancers / case handlers, and a £2400 abortive fee imposed from TR's side, since they were the ones who dropped the case, not me. I will be taking this to SRA and Ombudsman this week. I have bought and sold many properties over the years: Birmingham, Worcestershire, Greater Manchester, but I have never seen such an incompetent conveyancing team. I will be challenging this with their Client Care team, and if that doesn't help, I am taking this higher. Seven months, zero communication, cooperation and work done, topped off with a massive bill for NOTHING? AVOID AVOID AVOID Update on their Client Care case: They replied to my email and said they found nothing wrong in what they practice, insisted I paid the abortive fee and offered a £150 "discount" on the £2400 bill. What a joke.

   Having used Taylor Rose as the solicitors for a property sale, I can strongly recommend using anyone else but them! With hindsight a better option would be to find an independent solicitor that is the only point of contact. TR are a big firm, and as such they seem to acquired a mixed level of abilities amongst the staff. Sadly this is mostly poor to average at best. We were passed around from pillar to post. Every time we dealt with someone new at TR they were no better than the last, often worse. You’d think out of a dozen people at a company there would be one who gave you confidence that they knew what they were doing?! We’ll never use Taylor Rose again, nor will family or friends.

   Dealing with my late father’s estate, Taylor Rose made a sexist/ageist assumption that my elder brother was the executor so sent him all the paperwork and ignored me. They knew I existed but it took over a month before they correctly re-sent the paperwork to me. The lengthy delay could have derailed the property sale having taken over a year to find a buyer. If they’d bothered to look at the Grant of Probate (which they had!) they would have seen that I was the sole executor. They were also absolutely useless at replying to emails and voicemails.

   How is this company so highly rated? I see that most of the 2024 reviews on the legal version of Trust Pilot are one star. Taylor Rose may have been good in the past but not now, from our experience and others. Maybe the old reviews were bought, or added my members of staff?!

   This is my second time, ive dealt with MW Solicitors, on both occasions they have been very responsive, helpfull, professional and reasonable. I recently just completed on our purchase. Jo Hillier was our solicitor, lovely lady, very responsive to emails. She sent above and beyond for us. Worked on a Saturday to complete our paperwork. We are both very happy with MW Solicitors and especially Jo. I will definitely, in fact have already recommended Jo to a friend and she is purchasing her property thro Jo too, will be using MW Solicitors and Jo Hillier again, if we decided to move again. For now, we are very happy in new home and hope to be for many years. If you do need a solicitor for a property purchase, Jo is your 1st phone call. Thank you to her and MW Solicitors.

   We are buying our first home and had a terrible experience with our first solicitor. We would spend days chasing for update and hardly any progress was made. We were a little worried about changing solicitor half way but within 4 weeks switching over to MW solicitor, we have exchanged and ready for completion this week!!! Our paralegal Gitanjali is so wonderful, she often emails us to give us timly update, which is so important to us. She also followed up with phone calls just in case we have any questions...simply outstanding! I would recommend MW solicitor to anyone who wants professional and friendly service!

   We bought our first property with the help of Samantha at McMillan Williams in Coulsdon, and have only good things to say about the experience. Everything went smoothly and pretty fast, while no stone were left unturned during searches and inquiries process. A good attention to details and clear communication made us reach completion quickly and with confidence that everything was properly done.

   This was the worst experience I have ever had with a solicitor. I was passed to a new trainee solicitor 4 different times. On the day of completion I was told that they couldn't send the funds as they had forgotten to give me one form. I rushed to the office to sign it and was promised by Patricia Thornton it would be done that day. The funds never reached me. I was very disappointed but promised the next morning. The funds never came and I had to make an official complaint. The funds are yet to reach us! This company is an absolute shambles and I would advise finding another solicitor who will do a proper job. This re-mortgage process has taken 3 months where a trained solicitor would have done it properly from the start and complete within 4 weeks. If your sale is time critical and you want a good service do not come to this company. Your sale will fall through with this level of incompetence. Just to clarify the trainees were working under the wing of John McMillan one of the founders (he was cc'ed into every email) of this company and Patricia Thornton.
