   My girl absolutely hates the vets, and gets in quite a state when she has to go. But the all the vets she's seen at Vets4pets in Irvine are so kind and gentle with her, they speak softly to her and put her at ease. We've been coming here since Lola was was just under 1 year old ( she's 8 now) we wouldn't go anywhere else x

   I came in to buy 2 female bettas and explained that I had a 45L tank that had been cycling for 3 weeks with no other fish in it. I was told that the only way I could buy female bettas was if I purchased 5–7 of them because it ‘controls aggression.’ This is very misleading. Sororities of female bettas are extremely advanced to keep, and even then, they require tanks of at least 95L+ with heavy planting, lots of hiding spaces, and a backup tank in case aggression occurs. Suggesting 5–7 females in a 45L tank is not just poor advice — it’s unsafe and potentially abusive. I chose not to buy a sorority and instead purchased zebra nerite snails. Unfortunately, one of the snails was already dead, despite my efforts to confirm and try to revive it. It’s clear from this experience that the welfare of the fish is not being prioritized — only sales. If you are considering a betta, please do your research and avoid buying from this store. Bettas deserve better than being sold under harmful and misleading advice.
