Stayed a few days around Easter, totally relaxing and embracing, a place where you can unwind and enjoy the beautiful unspoilt landscape and dramatic coastline
We stayed here in October 2024 while travelling on a golf trip around the West Coast of Ireland. Cruit Island and Cruit Island Golf Course and these thatched cottages were everything we expected and more. Conor was an excellent host and the Cottages were a fantastic getaway and simply put, its a slice of heaven with the unrestricted Atlantic views, the beach, the hospitality. Allow yourself to travel back in time and imagine....a hot toddy by an open turf fire! We will be back!
The best cottage holiday by sea ever. Very very cosy and comfortable. Big fire place with possiblity to use turf. Very well equipped kitchen. Comfy beds. And gorgeous view.
We stayed in Donegal Thatched Cottages this August and had the most wonderful time. It was a total detox from the scramble of daily life. Our two small children loved the quiet beaches where they could explore and splash about safety. It was like turning the clock back to simpler times. Conor was very helpful with anything we needed. We’ll definitely be booking again for next year.
Amazing week in the Donegal Thatched cottages. They are in the most scenic part of Donegal with spectacular views of the Atlantic, surrounded by loads of Sandy deserted beaches within walking distance. We went as a family with 3 boys (6, 8 and 9) and the kids had a fabulous time. They loved the beaches, the adventures to find fish and crabs and even the cows up the road. House exceeded our expectations, had every amenity and was lovely and clean. We enjoyed the nightly turf fire, didn’t miss the tv although kids were glad to have WiFi. Best part were the beaches on our doorstep, even just to sit out with a coffee to watch the wild atlantic waves. Highly recommend if visiting Donegal. Conor was a fantastic host and a really interesting storyteller. We’ll definitely be back.
Great Holiday, houses have everything but a tv, but this helps you just switch off and watch the waves rolling in on one side of the island & the other side is like a lake. Beaches are stunning. Conor is so helpfull with local info. We will be back.
Picturesque, stunningly beautiful scenery. The house was comfortable and had great potential but was a little weary and in need of updating, freshening up. Comfortable bed, good space. Either lower price slightly or invest in property.
This was maybe my twenty-fifth stay in the Donegal Thatched Cottages on Cruit Island. I've always stayed in cottage number two, or when there were fourteen of us in numbers one and two. Wonderful! The cottages are clean, roomy, comfortable, well-furnished. And the view is spectacular! Out your front windows at the Atlantic, with Horn Head on the left. Out your back living room and kitchen windows at the Atlantic, the huge beach, and off in the distance a beautiful view of Errigal mountain. The beach is immense, and if you turn to the north at the island's cemetery and go to the beach, just out beyond the little island, when the tide is out, there are thousands of cockles waiting to be picked. On the far end of the island there's a golf course. A wonderful, wonderful place.
