A really mediocre experience. We stayed here in the summer and had a really awful time so the management offered for us to return for 1 night complimentary to see if we enjoyed it more. The building is stunning but that’s where the 4* experience ends. A lot of the staff seem unsure of processes - one receptionist said she would check me in and get our keys to us but they never arrived in the restaurant so we had to go back to the desk where we had to sign etc - not a problem but clearly the staff don’t know the check in procedures. Our Sunday lunch was lovely but it was disappointing to see so many people leaving behind afternoon tea platters as there were no boxes available to take cakes home. In the evening the only bar open was the atrium which was extremely noisy and echo-y. The library bar was open to sit in but no service in there and not even background music or anything to create an atmosphere. I ordered a Christmas cocktail that was supposed to be glittery but it wasn’t made properly. I got shouted at when I entered the toilets as a staff member was cleaning but instead of just saying, sorry these are being cleaned she yelled and shut the door in my face. Finished off with a poor breakfast, the beans had a congealed skin on them and the eggs had been under the heat lamp so long they also had a plasticky skin on them. Not somewhere I would return to.

Lovely hotel set in the glorious Gloucestershire countryside. Luxury feel with pleasant staff who are on hand to deal with most customer needs. Excellent conference facilities and very happy with the lunch buffet. Loved my room however dusting was a minor point however no means dirty. The rooms spaced out over the grounds so this can lead to a fair walk to and from reception. The pool and spa are excellent and my colleagues loved it although I didn't partake. The bar menu was not too bad however both the kitchen and bar staff appeared very rushed so attention to detail was lacking leading to some being unhappy with their food. Evening meal in the restaurant was excellent and well executed with everyone generally happy and staff here more relaxed and coordinated leading to a better experience than in the bar. In summary highly recommend and hotel rates are favourable if booked ahead.

Beautiful hotel! We arrived and had the deluxe room at the Mansion, unfortunately the cleanliness was not upto standard considering the star rating of this hotel, there was a dead fly on the bedding. Fortunately, the manager took immediate action and upgraded us to the courtyard suite, which we were grateful for. The suite was okay, cleanliness was on par, but there were cobwebs everywhere. I have a dust allergy, so it wasn't pleasant. The walls are so thin!! I could hear the person upstairs snoring. Would not recommend staying on ground for that reason! The second night was fine. Breakfast was ok, nothing special. Honestly speaking, the hotel was lovely, very aesthetically pleasing, but needs a bit more attention.

Absolutely fantastic hotel - have been here twice this year as a getaway from Bristol. Stunning grounds and building, staff are really friendly and helpful. Rooms are gorgeous and spacious, large comfortable beds. Loved walking around the arboretum. Great value for money as room cost includes use of spa and breakfast too. Have stayed during off season and always really buzzing and great atmosphere in the bars, often live music in the Atrium. Would highly recommend!

Stayed on a Friday and Saturday night in a junior suite. Reception desk is in a dark corner. A few days before arriving I received an email offering a chargeable room upgrade subject to availability which I accepted, only to be told at reception that "my request was not granted" in a condescending tone, as if they were doing me a favour! (it was them that asked me). The room was fine, but no double glazing. Ordinarily not an issue but there was a birthday party in the orangery that went on past midnight and was very very loud. Somewhat disappointed considering the cost of the room. There was also a wedding on the Saturday so was generally very busy. The food was good in both restaurants although the a la carte menu and wine was on the expensive side (I knew this before we went so I'm not complaining), but breakfast was chaos due to the layout of the room - rather like an assault course. The pool was very nice and reasonably quiet. Loads of parking and a lovely Arboretum in the grounds. On the whole a nice venue, but based on what we paid I don't consider it to be good value for money.

Beautiful surroundings and fancy rooms. This is an old castle converted to a hotel. There is a pub for quick meals. My room was very quiet and could not hear any neighbours. The hotel have a splendid atrium right in the middle where you can relax with a drink, coffee or tea, with some music. I went have a jog in the surrounding pleasant streets.

I came here on NYE as a wedding photographer and I have to say I was hugely impressed with this place. The hotel rooms are really gorgeous and spacious which made for really easy getting ready coverage. Not to mention the staircase allowing for some gorgeous portraits as well. The orangery is one of the most gorgeous spaces I’ve ever shot a wedding at as well and the grounds themselves offer so many different options for stunning portraits. I was hugely impressed with all the staff here. I can’t wait to come back again some time.

Went for Afternoon Tea for my birthday with my grandparents. I am Gluten and Dairy free very accommodating. First time I have had scones in since becoming gluten and dairy free and they were lovely . High quality food and they even gave us free champagne. Brilliant service. Kind and attentive staff. Food was outstanding. Plus added bonus of absolutely gorgeous view . They went above and beyond to make it a lovely experience.
