Nice little private room on the top floor. The room got a bed, a small fridge, relaxing chair, tons of drawer storage and cupboard, sliding computer desk with desk chair and TV. The room got two large windows which make the room super bright. Full carpet in the house and in this room as well. The host is super cool, she speaks English, French, German and many other languages. Super clean bathroom and plenty of towels. I highly recommend "The Sanctuary" ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

As a bit of background, I am a 3rd year Student on my placement year and had to move to Bristol at short notice. I knew nobody in Bristol so was moving to a new place that was miles away from home with no friends nearby which is quite a big ordeal for me as I have not done something like that before. Sandra (The Host) was nice enough when I first moved in and made me feel welcome. That’s about the only good thing I can say about my stay. The room is very small and boiling hot which would be fine if it had AC like advertised, but it only had a noisy fan that blew the hot air around the room. The wardrobes and the dressers are full up with all the hosts clothes so don't expect full use of either. Had to keep some of my clothes in my case all week (See pictures below). Woke up the next day expecting breakfast which I then discovered was not included and cost £5 a day for a piece of bacon and egg so ended up eating at work every day. Also, don't assume you will be able to cook anything even though it mentions use of microwave, because according to host, not allowed to make anything in the microwave that smells, i.e. any microwave meal. Nor the bedroom or the bathroom have a lock on them so don't expect any kind of privacy. Host burst in whilst my guest was changing, and she didn't even knock. Room was nice enough but a bit pricey for what it was if you ask me, very small. I was willing to overlook all of this but that’s when the problems started. Multiple times I heard the host slagging me off to the other permanent lodger saying that because I had connected an HDMI cable to the TV in my room that it had messed up the TV signals in all rooms. That wasn’t even the start of it. I had to cut my stay short for a week because I found a permanent place to stay. Had only been staying here whilst I found a permanent place and had informed the host of this. Went and informed her and she said she wouldn't agree to me changing the dates and getting a refund which, I was understandable about, so informed her that I would cancel on the Friday morning and she would get 50% of the following weeks rent. Fast forward 24 hours, the host accepted my change of dates, I assume by mistake judging by her reaction that evening. I got a knock on the door saying we need a word on the Thursday evening. Expected the host to ask how my stay had been and thanking me for staying. NO, she proceeded to accuse me of be lazy and not cancelling my stay the day before, I calmly told her that cancellations were effective immediately and I couldn't move into my new place till Friday eve, so was going to cancel on the Friday morning. The host proceeded to raise her voice until she was full on screaming at me saying I cost her £800 by not cancelling the day before. This went on for about 5 minutes. In the end I felt so uncomfortable I had to walk away. I went straight up to my room and packed my bags and went and slept on a friend’s sofa even though I had paid for another night. As I walked out of the door, I could hear her muttering words under her breath. Never had such an awful experience with a host in my life. I can’t actually believe that it happed it was that bad. Avoid this place at all costs!

Sandra is a super host, who made me feel very comfortable in her cosy home. The room was immaculate with everything as advertised. She went over and beyond the duties of a host to ensure my stay was enjoyable.
