We had a family gathering taking 4 of your rooms 3 were in the main hotel and were excellent ours was in The Manor House and the room was a little tired with the white curtains looking like they were due for a clean. The door to the fridge was hanging down. That said the service and food in The Olive Tree was excellent where we went for our evening meal. Lunch was in the Merlin bar and whilst the service was okay it took over an hour to receive our food making it a rush as some of our party were booked for swimming.

Rooms were very basic and tired. Lacked any soft furnishings. Pillows were just thrown on the bed in pillowcases that were far too big. Hotel was like a rabbit warren and not easy to find your way around. Breakfast wasn’t explained where or when at check in. Early check in pointless as didn’t work until room was ready when we checked in at reception. The evening Black Tie Event was fantastic and the band was brilliant

We have stayed here many times but this time wasn’t great. Our fridge wasn’t working so we called for maintenance but no one turned up all the time we were there, no robes in the wardrobe, there was no ironing board, one of the bedside lamps didn’t work, the heated towel rail wasn’t on so couldn’t dry our swimwear, there was a clicking noise overnight we realised it was the kettle on for over a day with no water in it making the noise only because I went to make tea in the morning and the kettle was very hot to pick up. The bathroom overall wasn’t very clean. I don’t know what’s happened to Pad Thai we always head for this restaurant the first night but we won’t be going there again for a while. The spring rolls were very fatty, the green thai curry was watery with no taste except a bit of heat and there was hardly any chicken content. There was a long wait for drinks at the main bar in about 30 minutes which isn’t really acceptable. Prices in general have gone up quite substantially Since we were last there 5 months ago. Overall an average stay.

We booked a golf weekend which included 2 nights accommodation and 2 rounds of golf (2010 & Montgomery Courses). The package wasn't cheap so disappointed we need to pay for parking. You need to book a shuttle bus to get to the outside car park or to the main reception where the Spa is (if you wish to avoid a good 10 minute walk from the manor. We were on the 4th floor and we noticed that there were dirty plates and empty alcohol bottles on a table just by the lift on the Friday when we arrived and they were still there when we left on the Sunday. We couldn't understand that when we played the 2010 course we had complementary driving range balls, but when we got to the Montgomery course we had to pay for driving range balls. The greens on the 2010 course could/should have been better. The greens on the Montgomery course were better that the 2010 (it should be the other way around given the stature of the courses and the cost to play them). All the staff were excellent, polite and courteous, from the reception staff to all the golf staff. The spa facilities and swimming pool were great. We didn't eat there as we thought the food was expensive. I though the £8.00 for a pint of inches cider was over the top. The room was great, very clean, tidy with a great shower. very quiet and peaceful.

I had to make 7 phone calls to get everything in place for a one night stay and two rounds of golf. Needed to ask for confirmation of rooming arrangement for me and my two boys - the two boys were allocated a King Size bed room but we were told the bed would be split into two singles - it wasn't when we arrived and still not when we returned after evening dinner - two teenage boys shared a bed with one duvet! Had to call twice to confirm tee times - the paperwork mailed through didn't have it. Breakfast was very good Pro Shop staff and buggy guys - very good. Its a pity that the golf bookings do not ask for certified handicaps or proof of golf club membership. The golf on both days took 5.5 hours. It was very clear that many of the people in front of us had not pick up a golf club for years! Their etiquette was appalling and they had no idea of the chaos they were causing behind them - at one time we were one of three groups (12 of us) waiting on one tee for the group in front. They did not repair divots or rake the bunkers and had no idea of where to leave their bags - one even left his bag on the green - more than once. It seems that only revenue is of key importance importance to the resort - and not the pleasure or value for money for genuine golfers. The Hotel did offer me a 30% discount off my next booking with them for not providing the single beds - and even that took five days of phone call to get through to the right person at Guest Services! I doubt I will ever be staying again - I'll spend my money elsewhere, with a golf resort that only accepts golfers with CDH numbers and have and apply a touch more attention to detail.

It’s the poor man’s Celtic Manor, it’s very tired in there, the carpets need replacing and the decor freshened up overall. They have replaced the bathrooms which is nicer but some of the fittings in my room were faulty. There was no view from my room either, as it was like something out of Maleficent, getting the thornbushes cut wouldn’t hurt. The room service took a long time to come and was cold and i made a cup of tea only to find out the milk had gone off which was putrid. There is no car parking. Just a drop-off point, so you have to park in the underground car park and go on a sponsored walk and hope you don’t get lost. Not great.

Disappointing. Regular at the hotel. Room wasn’t particular clean, make up marks and not the greatest clean in the bathroom. Window didn’t shut and was forced to block the cold with a towel. In the hall way 4 bottles of beer and dirty plates were left for our entire stay. Staff funny when trying to use the gym facilities as we hadn’t booked. The only slot is blind was after 6 or before 11am. Booking shouldn’t be a requirement when paying.

Easy access off the m4, rooms ok but tired, used room service for evening meal because earliest restaurant reservation was 21:15. Breakfast restaurant closed so used room service again. Car parking 10 minutes walk through resort hotel or a 5 minute climb up a hill. Still waiting for for a copy invoice despite three phone calls over 2 days nearly 2 weeks ago.

I could not understand why the steam room was still broken given that it was closed several weeks ago. I would expect the problem to be rectified much earlier. Many of the rooms that I have stayed in are in need of refurburshing. This includes the one that I stayed in and this was an upgrade. Very clean but tired looking. Prearranged pool times are frustrating. Service support was excellent. Breakfast was as always, excellent.

We booked the Queen Room 114 in the Manor Hotel for our 10th wedding anniversary. Slightly tarnished by the fact that there were stains running down the side of the toilet, the room was very dusty and not just a bit of dust it was weeks worth of dust. The canopy was full of cob webs. The furniture was tarnished and in need of replacement. The receptionist assured it it would be cleaned. We went for food and on return the room was still dirty. When I challenged it again, I felt like she didn't believe me, trying to tell me that older rooms are duster and that the streaks on urine down the side of the toilet might be wear and tear. We did get moved to a different room but we should not have had to do that. Considering it claims to a 5 star hotel, it is seriously lacking in hygiene and decor. Wallpaper was peeling off the wall.
