   We have attended events in Bath before, at The Forum and Bath Opera. We arranged this tour of the Old Theatre Royal as my daughter writes historical fiction, so was interested. We arrived early, as we had specifically travelled by train for the tour. At 11 when the tour was due to start the door was still locked. We knocked, phoned and emailed the Box office and eventually left. Someone from the Box Office called us about an hour later to tell me that the tour had been cancelled the day before but they hadn't realised there was a booking. They were very apologetic and have refunded the ticket value, but despite a request from me, not the travel expenses. I have cancer and my daughter and I try to do things together when I am able. As I can't drive much we got the train. As I get tired easily we would have gone straight back home. We literally travelled for nothing. Very disappointing. Update - I have contacted them and asked if they would be able to refund my out of pocket expenses. I wouldn't have been surprised if they had said no, but they didn't even have the courtesy to reply. I would take the one star off if I could.

   Really enjoyed Being Mr Wickham. Adrian Lukris created a compelling life story of Mr Wickham. The rogues really do provide the backbone of any story! We loved the hour of stories. He told tales that painted the picture of key points in Mr Wickham's life. Loads of research and wordsmithing were honed to perfection. The Q&A after was also illuminating. Hos fans are very clever, articulate people.

   I'm a bit late leaving this review, having visited the Old Theatre Royal on 1st July. I wasn't even aware of this building until I saw it mentioned in a Bath tourist booklet and decided to book a tour. You can book a tour online or just turn up on the day. The building started off as the Theatre Royal, was then used as a Catholic Church and is now a Masonic Hall. I found the tour really interesting and was glad that I'd seen the advert for it. A big thank you to the person, whose name I've forgotten (sorry) who gave the tour.

   Was this masonic hall really the old Theatre Royal? Goodness. It was comfortable enough for the single stand-up performer we went to see. A small bar had been set up and plenty of room. Interesting multitasking venue.

   Traditional pub with warm, wooden interiors. Staff is alright, not the most friendly. Drinks are pricey but not extortionate. Overall, a warm environment with decent chaps and good drinks makes for a decent ambience when drinking with mates. However, the space is quite small and as a result not the most welcoming or accommodating especially for larger groups.

   We had our wedding reception at the Old Theatre Royal in November 2019 and we can't recommend it highly enough. The whole team went out of their way to ensure we had the perfect day.
