Great outdoor space, very glad Bristol has such an open green space for the public to enjoy. Great for runners, families, dog walkers, cyclists, and everyone really. Always somewhere arround to park if you drive for long enough. Only complaint really is the lack of public toilets.
Very nice area to walk around. Take the path to overlook the Avon Gorge and the iconic suspension bridge.
We have been here many times over the years, for walks, teas, coffees or to just sit in the sun or shade & watch the world go by. This time it was to just pass the time whilst waiting for a hospital appointment nearby.
Clifton Downs is a great spot in Bristol to chill or go for a walk. It’s huge, so you don’t feel cramped, and the views over the Avon Gorge and Suspension Bridge are amazing. Perfect for picnics, jogging, or just kicking a ball about. Easy to get to and parking’s alright, plus there’s always something happening. On the downside, it can get super busy, dog mess is annoying, and sometimes travellers set up and cause disturbances. There aren’t many facilities either, so more toilets or cafes would be nice.
We visited Funderworld at Clifton Down. It was brilliant with lots of variety of rides. We had a great time and the weather stayed warm and sunny which always helps. There was food and drink available, both sweet and savoury, hot and cold. Rides included thrill rides and children’s rides with a large area for eating food or brining picnics. There was crazy golf and portaloos for use by customers. Staff were friendly and approachable. Unfortunately, where we had parked, at some point during the evening, someone had damaged one of my rear car lights (smashed a hole in the plastic) which is the only reason it didn’t get 5 stars, although this is a reflection of one person/group of people and not the place, it did add a little frustration to our visit.
A pleasant area today to whittle some time away from the bustling city. A relatively fine day, with a breathtaking view of the Avon Gorge & beyond. On the far side near the walled area is usually an ice-cream waggon up until a respectable time dependant on the season. This evening was until 18.00 hrs (6pm)
Great for some fresh air either a stroll with your dog, a jog or a good long walk to ‘blow out the cobwebs’. Pleasant views of the Avon gorge and Clifton Suspension Bridge. Ice cream normally available at lookout. It’s a life long friendly open space.
Born Free Forever exhibition well worth a visit, beautiful sculptures in a lovely setting. Easily accessible and free. Lots of space to wander in and dog friendly.
We went this time to visit and see the Born Free sculptures. Despite grotty British weather it was pleasant, clean and tidy. The Lion sculptures were brilliant, of excellent scale, quality and really informative. I was pleasantly surprised to see no vandalism or graffiti at all so they have clearly been well received and respected. We had a beautifully huge ice cream from the van there and admired the view of the Clifton Suspension Bridge before heading to Park Street and the Centre.
Run, walk, cycle Clifton Downs you can do it all, plenty off free parking round the fields and lots of open space weather your a fitness fanatic or like to chill and have a picnic and walk the dog. Plenty of organised sports are on through out the year (probably have to be a member of those though) and during the summer months lots of events occurring too. If you like the outdoors get yourself over there and enjoy.
