I'd had Restaurant263 on my list to try since I moved back to Leicester and I'm happy to say it didn't disappoint. I went for their "mid-week treat/Pre-Theatre" menu as I couldn't stay too long on this visit. This is 3 courses for Β£28 (and is offered on Wednesdays and Thursdays only), but this also includes a small amuse bouche and bread with flavoured butter. Given the quality of cooking, this seems very fair. Amuse bouche was a "hash brown" with gherkin ketchup and a small pastry cup with shredded leeks, which both kicked things off nicely. The bread came out warm and served with a wild garlic butter, which was a lovely accompaniment. My starter of lamb was delicious, the meat being very tender, the courgettes and asparagus adding some nice colour to the plate, all perfectly cooked although the asparagus was close to tepid by the time it reached my table. The main I had was chicken breast with some seared broccolini, salsify, potato, carrot, two purΓ©es (herb and celeriac, I think) and a red wine jus. There was some solid ambition in the cooking here and it was impressive that all the components worked together so well; everything was cooked perfectly. A small nitpick is that the red wine jus was just a bit too salty (and I say that as someone who appreciates plenty of seasoning in my food), despite having a nice depth of flavour. Dessert was refreshing and delicious. I was a bit worried when I saw some of the biscuit wet with strawberry juice but the texture was still perfect, not at all soggy. The wild berry sorbet was closer to an ice cream in texture but was a pleasure to eat. The service was friendly and courteous throughout, though I would say that there were a couple of times where guests would arrive and nobody was at reception to greet them, which then meant them lingering aimlessly by my table next to the entrance. On a more positive note, I really liked that the chefs would come out and explain each dish, a nice touch. It's great to find a place in Leicester that is offering people a taste of fine dining at reasonable prices; it offers easily some of the best cooking you will find in the city and it deserves to succeed. I'll definitely revisit and hope to try the full tasting menu next time. 4.5/5

t’s can be quite difficult to fit fine dining around a baby! But, now our daughter’s a little older, we returned to one of our favourite restaurants! A It was just as good as I remember! The team absolutely smashed our lunch service, with beautifully presented courses that tasted amazing! The pre-theatre menu is an absolute steal too! The restaurant opened with the aim of making fine dining accessible and affordable; it’s great to see they’re still championing this!

We recently had the pleasure of dining at 263 Restaurant, and we cannot recommend it highly enough! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm, attentive service. We opted for the Eight Course Taster Menu, and each dish was beautifully plated and bursting with flavour. It’s clear that the chef is passionate about using local high quality ingredients. We particularly enjoyed the duck and venison courses. The service was impeccable, the staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic about the menu, sharing details about each dish and offering excellent recommendations. 263 Restaurant is a true gem in the city centre of Leicester. I will definitely be returning soon and recommending it to friends and family. Thank you!

First visit tonight, been recommended by a couple of friends, so thought we would give it a try. We were not disappointed... We chose the 5 course blind taster menu. Given the choice of main...pork,chicken or vegan. Wow!!!!! Each course was superb. The service was excellent, attentive staff. Each course flowed nicely, and the table next to us had the wine pairing, which they said was great. A good wine and beer selection. Very impressed and highly recommended. A good idea to book a table as Friday and Saturday are very busy. Pleasantly surprised when the bill came, absolute bargain for the quality of food and service.

Me & my wife went for a blind 5 course meal for our birthdays, and we wasn't dissapointed! Great experience and food. Staff was great, each course that came out was explained by the chef and top it off we got a suprise birthday dessert. Highly recommend.

We came for a blind tasting menu. They had vegetarian and vegan. Wine pairing was lovely (also had vegan wine). Lovely ambience and staff were really friendly. Felt like I was in an episode of masterchef. Really affordable for a tasting menu. Hats off to the head chef. I'd definitely come back again.

Absolutely wonderful! Had the blind 5 course taster menu and was thoroughly impressed with every dish. Petite and lovingly prepared dishes that left us feeling happy and satisfied. Everyone there really cares about what they present to you and it's no wonder it's so highly rated. Definitely will be coming back again!

Was highly impressed with the food and service here. Arrived the night of a new taster menu and the courses were flawless. Leicester has lacked a fine dining restaurant and this fills that gap nicely. Very highly reccomended.
