Brought cod and chips tonight. ABSOLUTELY BLOODY AWFUL! Chips soggy and fish so overcooked the batter was like concrete and the fish as dry as blotting paper. After a few mouthfuls it went straight where it belonged - in the bin! Utter waste of money.
Had some bits and bobs from here the pther day and was better than we thought. Chips were bang on and the food was being cooked fresh. Prices were a fraction high, but expected, being in a village. Good service by the staff; polite and friendly. Hipe to pop in there again soon.
5 stars for the quality of fish and chips, haddock was flaky and not overcooked, batter was crispy, not oily. But can not get over the price of fish n chips, no longer a regular takeaway for me, just a treat nowadays. £18 for 2 fish and large chips!!!
Just been in for our tea had 2 stake and kidney pies and a large portion of chips I noticed the price as gone up and when the girl was rapping them I asked her if it was a large portion she said yes when I got home the portion was no bigger than a normal one the pies were like rubber so on the grounds of the chip size I won’t be going in there again
Will only use this chippy from now on,best we’ve had for a long time,really friendly staff,clean premises and oh boy delicious food.
The nicest fish and chips we’ve had in a VERY long time! Chips fluffy on the inside, crisp on the outside and not oily at all. Fish was cooked perfectly, batter crisp and golden. Staff extremely friendly and welcoming. Thoroughly recommended!
I think it’s under new management and the standard of food and general service is noticeably poorer. Shame we used to love this chip shop
We use this chipshop every couple of weeks and the quality of food is exceptional. The staff are always friendly and efficient. We travel from wigston to get our fish and chips from here. Quite honestly we wouldn't go anywhere else. Thank you Hi-Tide for an affordable, tasty take away.
