I got the lamb chettinad, which tasted pretty decent/good and was on the salty side. I was a bit disappointed with the portion size as it came out, given it costs Β£8.50~ if my memory does not fail me. This price is in line with other places, to be fair. However, the worst thing to me and what has primarily upset me is that a single roti is Β£3.25. I wasn't gonna have curry without a roti or something.. but yes despite my tiredness at the time arguably I am the fool who paid Β£3.25 for a single roti, despite knowing I was going to get a single roti. Again though, this might somewhat be in line with other places, though I haven't explored enough. That being said, the curry (eaten with the roti) was fairly filling despite its size though I wasn't too happy with the cost. As for the atmosphere, it was okay though oddly meals eaten by past patrons were left out and not cleaned on other tables. Perhaps this was to show the restaurant wasn't inactive, as only one person was present there when I went, and no-one was eating when I was. The server was chill, I did express my frustration about the portion size and we talked about it a bit. The main reason for my 2 stars is simply the value to result ratio and I am a bit bitter as a result (though yes I paid for this somewhat knowingly). I ended up paying around Β£11 for the meal you see in the pictures, a third of which came from a single roti. As such I wouldn't come here again, though I would consider it if I brought my own kind of bread.. That being said the meal itself was decent/good.

Lovely hidden gem! We enjoyed a delicious meal and especially liked the 2 for 1 dosa’s and onion bhajis. Friendly and attentive staff, great value for money, would recommend!

Lovely Indian restaurant in town on Granby Street, approximately opposite the railway station. Its entrance is non-descript, and the actual restaurant is down a flight of stairs and surprisingly large, well decorated with a good ambience and comfy chairs. The service was nice, friendly and efficient. The food was surprisingly good, freshly made and not as expensive as some of its similar neighbouring restaurants. We had salted lassi, which was excellent, medu vada, which were crispy on the outside light and fluffy on the inside with a well made sambar and chutney, masala king prawns were flavorful and not overbearing spicy and chicken biryani. Portions were generous. Its well worth a visit and I believe it gives its more famous neighbours a run for their money

Amazing Indian restaurant in the centre of Leicester. Had dinner one night and lunch another day. Food is fantastic, and the set lunch menu is great value. Menu is split into Vegetarian and Non-Vegetarian. I enjoyed the chicken and beef dishes and my friends had the paneer. All dishes were delicious and filling. Got extra popadoms and dips for a small extra price. Had the same woman serve us both visits, she was pleasant, polite, patient and helpful. Would highly recommend, will definitely visit again if I find myself back in Leicester.

Starters were terrible! Chicken 65 was dry. Lamb chops were chewy and just not flavoured at all. Biriyani lacked flavour and the lamb in this was very dry. Other main course dishes tasted decent enough but the portions were very small. Service was very slow but friendly. The management are lovely and apologised however this place really needs an overhaul to survive in this competitive market. There are plenty of better restaurants to choose from.

The food was not seasoned very disappointing as my previous collection order was ok Food portions were smaller for a higher price quantity was low and placed in white cardboard burger boxes?? Chilli panneer was dry No taste bland will not be spending my money here again. Very disappointed I would not recommend this place anymore. Horrible placing food in burger boxes so tacky for what I had paid you are not a chicken and chip shop! I added the noodles and curry's from the CARDBOARD BOX. Never again

This was my first time having a biriyani from a restaurant in UK. Taste wise, I would say that it was good, it's more of a north Indian type of biriyani but not spicy. Price wise I think Shanti is really affordable when compared to other restaurants around Leicester.

Very nice place and experience. The waiter helped us decide on the food, as he had good knowledge of the menu. He was also very attentive and quick with delivering the appetizers, starters & mains. Prices were on par with what we were expecting. Overall very good experience and highly recommended!

Really yummy food, we had chilli paneer and the fried aubergine. We went quite late and we got served quickly and the wait staff were great too. Didn't rush us out even though they had closed. Will definitely come back!

Absolutely loved the dishes, it’s the perfect example of authentic South Indian food. We had amazing service, everything arrived straight away, fresh and warm. The flavours are perfect and we were offered a choice of spice level so all dishes can be enjoyed no matter how much spice you are able to take. Also the vibe of the restaurant was very calming and easy to relax in, although the lighting could be a little brighter, this is not a big issue though. Overall my visit was perfect, will be visiting again, and highly recommend more people to visit.
