   Had an excellent family meal at The Newlands last Saturday lunchtime. The quality and value of the food was great. The staff were attentive and helpful with my sister being a Coeliac. Atmosphere was great and they were raising funds for meals for the homeless which was great to see helping out others who are less fortunate. All in all a great experience!

   Went with a group of 14 women for a festive meal today. It was cooked perfectly and the service was first class. Very reasonably priced and the portion sizes were large. We would definitely recommend.

   "OMG, the service today was absolutely incredible! A massive shout out to Owen and Emily, who were a brilliant 'double act' on the floor. They were funny, laughing, and had great banter with each other and us guests. It created a fantastic atmosphere—exactly what you need from a bar experience. The best part is that while they were joking around and making our time amazing, they were still incredibly efficient and managed to get everything done perfectly. The service was top-notch! We were a table of four and ordered the big platter, which was the best food ever! A huge thank you and shout out to the chef as well. Absolutely incredible experience all around. Thank you so much, Owen, Emily, and the chef!"

   We have been coming to this establishment regularly over the years. It used to be a lovely little pub, and the refurb last year went a long way to giving the place a new lease of life. The menu is exciting with lots of options, but I am appalled by the staff. It really is disappointing when you see other staff members trying to make up for the shortcomings of their colleagues, desperately doing all they can and clearly being embarrassed by the behaviour of those on shift with them. We have been greeted many times by a lovely young girl who has been nothing short of amazing, but this was soured on our more recent visits when a member of staff who we hadn't seen before was openly rude and borderline insulting to our experience as customers. We were greeted - for lack of a better word because it was hardly a greeting - at the bar by Owen. He was straight to the point, jumpy and snappy. When he wasn't loudly cursing - despite there being many families in this pub quite often - he was telling everybody how he wasn't going to be "up to scratch" because he was hungover and "had not yet been to sleep". Like it was something to be proud of. I understand that a Sunday shift isn't fun for everybody, but as a father of two young children, I personally do not appreciate hearing this language from staff while trying to enjoy a nice meal with my family. I am no prude, but I do not care to hear about how he spends his Saturday, and when he has a clear lack of an inside voice, it is almost impossible to avoid. We had ordered starters with the view to ordering mains but I was so dismayed by the language, of which it was plentiful and abhorrent, that we swiftly left. He was swearing so much it was impossible to avoid, and the way he spoke about customers while other customers were around was frankly disturbing. It's a real shame, because I used to love to bringing my family here. We live locally and considered this place a lovely, family-friendly pub but I strongly doubt we will be returning sheerly due to this one particular member of staff. A real shame, but please do not consider taking your family here if you care about the language your children will be hearing.

   One of female staff (strong and tall) was absolutely not friendly while arranging table for the guests. We went there last week with a group of five, when no waitress presented at the reception and more than half of the table were not reserved, we sat down in a round table. But we were called out rudely to the entrance again and assigned another table of the similar size without reason. While we ask for the reasons of that, no respond from that waitress. It looks as if you cannot ask for the table at better position that we prefer. We were greatly disappointed by such service attitude and left. Indeed, before we went there, we had been advised that the rude attitude the waitress there from many friends. Now we experienced personally. Later we moved to another pub just a mile away, we experienced a significant different attitude of service. We said, it was like from hell to heaven! Good food and similar charges, but we enjoy so much there. We vowed that we and our friends will never go back to Newland’s.

   Lovely Sunday dinner with the Mrs and kids. Four different meals, all excellent. Staff super friendly from the second we walked in. The rib eye was really nice and the spicy sauce went really well with it.

   Came here this morning for breakfast and they persistently refused to serve due to being under staffed in the kitchen. Food is generally good here but I was hugely disappointed as I brought my daughter specifically and was well within the time frame of breakfast hours which are advertised. We left with an apology but it would’ve been nice to have been offered something to compensate and they need to look at covering staff who don’t turn up to adhere to their advertised service. My advice is call before you turn up.

   We came here for dinner the other day and have to say it's some of the best pub food we've tried in Coventry. The portions are huge and the prices are very affordable. Service was overall friendly and helpful and unlike other pubs they offer table service. We'll be back for more soon!
