I popped in for my anniversary, and had the taster menu and veggie taster menu. The food and service were well worth the money. The dishes were French inspired, the scallops were especially good. There was a anniversary card on the table and the staff brought a sorbet and chocolate course to make the evening special.

Wonderful 70th birthday celebration. Treated royally by professional approachable attentive but not overbearing staff who provided expert explanation of all courses appropriately. The flavoursome food was beautifully presented and cooked to perfection everything was a highlight, high level cookery on offer, the Chefs at this establishment are top notch. My birthday experience was recognised upon arrival by our servers and enhanced sincerely with a superb miniature chocolate & passion fruit cake which I very much appreciated.

Menu’s on the pricey side, portions are small (as you’d expect for a fine dining restaurant) but can’t complain about the quality of food - we ordered all the mains except the chateaubriand and a few starters and desserts, all were great and sophisticated but I liked the desserts best - try the peanut butter parfait and yuzu cake! Overall for the price we paid everything is up to standard but not mind-blowing good. Would love to visit again for their lunch menu.

Visited here on a Saturday night, the place seems very hectic for what’s meant to be fine dining. We went for the £85 tasting menu, a few glasses of wine each etc and the food just felt flat. The food lacked seasoning, although the presentation was beautiful, I had to ask for Salt which you don’t expect especially for that price point. I’d been to Hiraeth a few days before and it just didn’t match up to it on service, atmosphere or food quality. I think they’re out pricing themselves for the quality & atmosphere vs other comparable tasting menu places in the area.

Thomas was our first real dining experience in Cardiff since moving from Cape Town, and it definitely didn't disappoint! My wife and I were blown away from the minute we walked in, until the last delectable bite. The service was world class, with friendly and relatable staff. It was fine dining, but in a cosy atmosphere. Our servers Izzy and Rosalie were just perfect examples of what flawless actually means. Every bit of the food took us on a journey of sensations, with a perfect combination of textures and sublime balance of flavours. It's almost impossible to put it into words. Truly magical.

I went to Thomas by Tom Simmons for my graduation lunch and was really looking forward to it but was disappointed that they were not doing their usual weekday lunch menu of three courses for £30. I asked why twice and was told it was because of the graduations and the chefs couldn't run two menus. Fair enough about the chefs but that suggests to me a choice was made to only offer the more expensive menu, where mains were around £27 plus the cost of sides. I was given no warning when booking so the lunch ended up costing a lot more than I had anticipated. I heard another table asking about the set menu too. The food was incredible, we both had lamb and shared the chips and cabbage. The lamb is possibly the best I've ever had and the price feels reflective of the quality, but again I wasn't expecting to be eating from the full menu. We skipped starters but we did have the set vanilla custard for pudding which was good, but there was a little too much going on in the raspberry topping. The service was friendly and quick and they gave me a congratulations card for my graduation, which was kind. I am giving three stars because it was a much more expensive experience than I'd planned and it seems opportunistic to shelve the set menu during graduations. The food really was excellent and if you want to eat somewhere special in Cardiff then I would recommend Thomas's.

Had a wonderful lunch at Thomas today. The food was spectacular. The Mac n cheese side dish was unbelievable!! The restaurant was beautifully designed and the waiting staff were very attentive. One of our party had a birthday and Thomas went above and beyond to make this a special occasion. I will definitely return.
