Second time going to this place, but this time was exceptionally good service from The moment we stepped through door. Even though it was busy we were greeted with a sincere welcome. The food was really good and can't be faulted at all. Dave and all the staff we interacted with were polite and attentive, nothing was too much for them, which also made the evening special. I will definitely be happy to spend my money in there in the future. Great experience from start to finish

Mike and his team were amazing! 10/10 for food, service and overall experience. We were a group of 10 having the bottomless brunch, and they ensured the drinks kept flowing for us all night, nothing was too much trouble for the team. Amazing staff and great hospitality. We will definitely be going back again for more events! X

I ordered off the Lite Bites menu (2 courses for £20 or 3 courses for £24). I had Soup of the Day - Tomato and Red Pepper, with ciabatta bread and a whipped butter. This was topped with balsamic vinegar, crispy onions and herbs. It was by far the nicest soup i've ever tasted!! I then had the Pot Pie - chicken, bacon and leek. This was accompanied by mashed potato and peas. The pie was delicious, the mash was smooth and topped with crispy onions and herbs (amazing!). I throughly enjoyed it as it was full of meat and enough sauce that gravy wasn't needed. I had the Winterberry Crumble for dessert. They swapped the ice cream for custard for me. I wasn't keen on this but that was purely personal preference. It was presented well and cooked to perfection. It is a busy pub with lots of seating but it has a homely feel to it with nice comfy chairs. You need to book a table as it was busy by the time we left. We will absolutely be returning and I will recommend The Golden Fleece as the place to go! They also have Gluten Free available so we will be back!

We found this place towards the end of last year and thank goodness we did! It’s now our favourite local pub. The pub itself has a lovely atmosphere. The decor is cosy and welcoming. The team who work there are always friendly and the service is top notch. Now, the food. The foooood! We’ve never had a bad meal here. Finally, a pub who make a genuinely delicious roast! And my husband loves the flat iron steaks. The quality of their ingredients is amazing and you can tell they put a lot of care into serving up the best quality food possible. Always enjoy our visits and we have since brought our families for a couple of special occasions now and everyone has been impressed. Thank you to the team at Golden Fleece ❤️ already looking forward to our next visit x

I have driven past this pub so many times but never been in. Me and my sister were taking the mother to Readmans (next door). We parked up, my sister suggested we pop into the pub for a drink before Readmans. So, in we pop. As we had parked at the back of the building, you don’t get the best impression of the pub. I’m not sure what I was expecting, but as soon as we stepped inside, I was impressed. All thoughts of having lunch anywhere else were immediately expelled. The pub had a busy dining area but we chose a quieter spot. This is an absolutely fantastic pub, I will definitely be making more stops here in future. Great menu, food and very friendly service. The food is top notch! One tiny observation is my crumble to apple ratio is the complete opposite of the chefs. I like a lot of crumble and custard when I order apple crumble. Having said that all of the ingredients in our 3 meals were good quality and generous. I want to return for Sunday lunch and the pub quiz.

Ate from the 'Lunchtime Lite Bite' menu. Very good food. Portions are a good size. Good value. Busy so waiter a bit slow to take our order. Otherwise service good. Traditional/modern decor.

Had a lovely meal from the Early bird menu, 2 courses for £16 or 3 courses for £19, we could only manage 2 courses as we were full, well worth the money and the food was lovely, the atmosphere was good, decor really nice, staff friendly, will definitely be back again.

“We really must check that place out…” And we’re so glad we did! Exceptional food in a relaxing atmosphere. My wife had spotted the Golden Fleece when we had taken the A road towards Leeds a number of times and I had recalled visiting many, many moons ago and liking it but not being overly impressed. This return journey, however, yielded much better results and I suspect we’ll be going back a lot sooner than previously, the visit was that much enjoyed. We booked for a midday table for three (a celebratory meal for my fathers birthday) which was just as the doors opened - and this proved to be the best decision as the venue (the Golden Fleece can’t just be described as a ‘pub’) got very busy with a Sunday lunch crowd that knew exactly how good the fare was. And - my gods - the food!! I went for the wonderful and delicate pulled pork bhaji/black pudding balls starter but had to try out the Prawnography prawn cocktail, partly because of the cheeky title but also because of the description of ‘the best prawn cocktail in the world ever!’ Well, I’ll be the judge of that, thank you very much! And, yes, I think they may be right! A combination of battered, fresh and cocktailed prawn, all wonderfully fresh and tasty, paired with fresh crisp salad, sumptuously displayed - and lots of it! The batter was a particular standout – very light and tasty – but the whole thing was well worth paying the extra starter price for. The prawn cocktail actually was part of the Sunday menu deal which makes it an even better appealing option. My maincourse consisted of the beef and gammon roast dinner – other meats are available but if it melted and tasted as good as the beef/gammon did, I’d love to know who their source of meats are as it really was next level, I barely needed a knife to cut it. The veg was honey glazed, again beautifully prepared, and the other meals ordered by our party were equally enjoyed. Forget compliments to the chef, I wanted to go and buy the man a pint or two! Combine this with a warm and relaxed, old style setting and incredibly attentive and positive staff, And you have the makings of a visit which will last in our memories for many moons to come. Visit the Golden Fleece to make your own, you won’t be disappointed.

Brilliant food, very pleasant staff, I'd be more than happy to give a complete 5 star rating. I'd most certainly recommend as one of the BEST dining experiences I've had where quantity is concerned, worth every penny and time. Definitely a place I'd go again and again. Absolutely priceless!
