  1. MATTHEW CADMAN ★★★☆☆

Typical Costa fare. Nice staff, speedy service.

  2. Sarah McCarthy (Tink, she and they) ★☆☆☆☆

It's been over a year since my last review, nothing has changed. Staff seemed irritated when asked about vegan food/cake/coffee the options that were available are still awful they don't even have flora equivalent for a teacake! The disabled loo is still just as bad as before (no mirror, red cord is in the corner behind the toilet and a dirty floor), but now has several wobbly grab rails! Not safe to pull up on! Staff has changed, and so has my review Since the last review was typed my coffee order has been wrong multiple times, I have been misgendered, and then today my wheelchair was grabbed which I told the person not to do, and then the manager aggressively shouted at me in the street. The manager. Oh and the door has actually broken. There are better coffee shops in Barry, please support those instead. I'm autistic, vegan, queer and a wheelchair user so will offer multiple non-standard perspectives. This review has been a long time coming. Autism, it's sometimes very loud, there is 2 corners that are usually quiet, I'd love it if one or both could be made an official quiet corner. I prefer the table in the corner next to the window, but so does everyone else, it's rarely free. Accessibility: Though getting around the cafe itself is adequately easy, accessibility is awful. The door to get in has a very steep offlevel ramp that is quite difficult to use. My wheelchair only just fits through the door, the left hand door is always locked, forcing disabled customers to use the more difficult right hand door. Disabled bathroom. My Gods, I have never been in a worse bathroom from a large business. The red pull cord is in an awful place, if you've fallen to the floor you'd have to reach around the toilet to access it. I doubt it would ever actually get used in an emergency by a disabled person because of this. The only time I've used it was when I had run out of paper and had to call a staff member to get more. The Toilet itself is not easy to flush from the wheelchair, you have to reach over the bowl to push the lever, it also feels broken, though I couldn't explain how. There is no shelf to put a colostomy bag or other disability devices, forcing customers who need it to use the baby changing table instead. There is no bathroom mirror just a lot of dry silicone where the mirror should be. The sink is very very small and difficult to use from a sitting position. Door does lock, but could be difficult to turn for some disabled customers. No gluten free options available. Very little for those with a milk allergy, cross contamination could be an issue. Vegan: Very little choice of vegan savoury food and what is available (vegan ham and cheese toastie) isn't very good. I know Costa have other options because other branches are excellent. When I ask why so little options for vegans, I get told it doesn't sell, but there's always a lot of animal flesh that doesn't get sold so this is odd. Vegan cakes are ok sometimes there's only 1 available, other times 3 choices, it's hit and miss, but they are always very good. Vegan drinks, as long as you order off menu they will be able to make you something you like. The choice on the menu itself is abysmal. Staff are always friendly and helpful. So I do feel safe here as an autistic, queer, disabled person, if not actually catered for.

Quick Service, Friendly Staff and great flat-whites.

After a couple of terrible visits this had to be done. Slowest service, 4th member of staff about like couldn’t be bothered to do any work. Really weak work ethic and clearly obvious no one wants to be doing that job. This will be the last time I’ve given the place a chance

  2. Tim Holmes ★★★★☆

A little bit tatty around the edges of the furniture and decor but very friendly and has a real local feel without excluding non-regulars.

I went on Tuesday 3rd Jan around 4 o'clock. The staff were so kind, and they made sure that they had a chat with what felt like everyone. They put everyone at ease instantly! I love going there to do some work

My Cappuccino was made to perfection with heart & soul, plus I was served by the friendliest warm Barista who took the time to chat with me, lovely place to go! Plenty of seating, table's clean, all the sandwiches & cakes looked fresh & yummy, overall such good value for money.
