Cafe in Barry

“Modest café situated right on Barry Island seafront. I wasn't expecting much in the way of either quality or value. However I was very pleasantly surprised when my lunch arrived, to receive a generous slice of steak and ale pie which was absolutely packed with filling, a decent pile of nicely-cooked chips and peas, all served piping hot on a hot plate, just as it should be! It was also very nice that the gravy came separately in a jug with a lid, to keep the contents hot... brilliant! The staff were clearly working hard during lunch service and yet still managed a smile and to exchange pleasantries. I'll definitely be back, next time I'm in town. Thank you and keep up the great work!”

“Proper old-school café, a genuine Greasy Spoon. Situated near to a trading estate, it is a little out of the way. Inside, there's a fair bit of space. They can probably seat about 60 people. Which is odd as from the outside it does not look like a particularly large building. The menu has, as you would expect, a full English breakfast with various size options. There are other options on the menu as well. Portions are value for money, cooked fresh and filling. Large mugs of tea and other drinks can be purchased. The staff are great, warm and welcoming. It was a genuinely positive and unpretentious experience visiting Café Atlantic.”

“There’s nothing that gets the heart racing on this industrial estate quite like the sacred beep beep of Denise’s delivery food van. It’s our Pavlovian bell, summoning us from forklifts and spreadsheets alike. But it’s not just any beep. It’s the glorious trumpet that heralds the arrival of Steve, the man, the myth, the wrap wrangling legend. Steve doesn’t just bring food, he brings hope. An excellent selection of hot food and snacks that somehow taste even better when consumed while leaning against a skip in hi-vis. Whether it’s a bacon bap that could raise the dead or a hot wrap that hits the spot... Denise’s van is the spiritual centre of this estate. God bless the beep. God bless Steve. “Not my usual choice but not fussy either so decided to give it a go last minute. Service was outstanding. In particular (didn’t get his name) but the duty manager, tall guy with glasses. His good morning made us feel welcome immediately, he was attentive and really friendly. Service makes the experience for me, food was cheap and cheerful, nothing to write home about but hit the spot for the price. Will definitely consider going again, because of the service.”

“Everything in the apartment you need, staff who run it are exceptional! So very helpful currently in Zebulun suite which we have found a little small for a family of three, more suited to a lone visitor or couple, that said we will certainly be coming back we will just ensure we book a bigger suite, location is excellent, plenty of shops in easy walking distance, and as I said the staff could not be more helpful , exceptional service throughout”

“Happily shop here regularly and want to mention how amazing Niru and Jo are. They always help me when needed and give good Rewards advice. They've often supported me when one or both of my children aren't enjoying the shop shall we say! Niru puts a smile on my face every time I visit and is an absolute asset to the store”

“Fantastic food they cater for all kids meals are amazing according to the 4 year old and 6 year old. Meals are always hot and fresh gormade burgers are 10/10 pizza amazing for the deals too. Honestly one of my favourite restaurants and won't eat anywhere eles The cocktails are so fresh fresh fruit and super cold just what we need on a hot day delivery time way before its due”

“I don't usually give reviews but figured these guys deserved it tonight. I got chips from here about a month ago, but they weren't great. These guys had just taken over the place and it all seemed a bit chaotic. But today was different. The guys were friendly and the chips were freshly cooked and hot. They were the best chips I've had for a while.”

“Absolutely great place. The beers on tap are always changing so there is always something new to try. They have lots of other drinks too including amazing coffee. The staff are amazing and nothing is too much trouble. They don't do food as such but have snacks and best of all they don't mind you taking in your own food and as Asda is so close a picky dinner is always a good option. I love the fact they allow dogs in, make for such a nice and relaxed atmosphere.”

“This pub is fantastic. I had such a good evening/night here. The atmosphere was brilliant, the staff and owner Gareth were all great and made me feel very welcome (even though I wasn't drinking!) There was live music last night and people queuing to get in, they have various things going on and a huge array of locals from all walks of life; young and old. “A very nice vegan/vegetarian cafe, the food was lovely and well presented with beautiful fresh ingredients. Lovely staff. The residential Tom cat is very precious over its domain and has no fear of having a go at your dog. Staff quickly got him inside with a bribe so calm could be restored. A lovely little place for a coffee and bite to eat.”

“Came to Barry for some breakfast before heading off to the beach. I had the eggs Benedict with bacon. Have to say, probably the best eggs I’ve ever had. Both were super gooey and delicious, you can tell they source them fresh. Pleased to see that they source locally when they can! My friends had the veggie breakfast and she was amazed at the value for money - they really fill up your plate . Our servers were attentive and helpful and the food came out in no time. Would recommend”

“Went for breakfast this morning at 9.30am and I was so impressed! The food was delicious and good value for the quality they are offering. The lady who served us was so welcoming and helpful. We had children with us and she was really good with them and tailored our order. The mystery to me is why it was quiet. There was one other table occupied when we we there and as we left at 11am another table was being taken. The Gallery is clearly Barry’s best kept secret and really deserves to be busy because the food and service and surroundings are perfect. I will definitely be back and would recommend it to everyone.”
