“Great little find! We followed the signs on the main road and was hoping for a homely pub. This pub was exactly that! Friendly staff, Great food and exactly what we needed after a long day being tourists around barry island and cardiff! Would highly recommend.”

“Not my usual choice but not fussy either so decided to give it a go last minute. Service was outstanding. In particular (didn’t get his name) but the duty manager, tall guy with glasses. His good morning made us feel welcome immediately, he was attentive and really friendly. Service makes the experience for me, food was cheap and cheerful, nothing to write home about but hit the spot for the price. Will definitely consider going again, because of the service.”

“This pub is fantastic. I had such a good evening/night here. The atmosphere was brilliant, the staff and owner Gareth were all great and made me feel very welcome (even though I wasn't drinking!) There was live music last night and people queuing to get in, they have various things going on and a huge array of locals from all walks of life; young and old. I highly recommend a visit you won't be disappointed. John and Gareth I look forward to seeing you soon...keep that water coming!”

“Absolutely great place. The beers on tap are always changing so there is always something new to try. They have lots of other drinks too including amazing coffee. The staff are amazing and nothing is too much trouble. They don't do food as such but have snacks and best of all they don't mind you taking in your own food and as Asda is so close a picky dinner is always a good option. I love the fact they allow dogs in, make for such a nice and relaxed atmosphere.”

“I had a wonderful lunch with my 2 sons at the Cwm Talwg today. I hadn’t booked a table but staff thankfully found a table for us. Lots of choice on the menu so was hard to decide !! From entering to leaving the staff were attentive and super friendly. Our orders taken promptly and food served after a short wait, staff checked twice that our meals were ok. We had no complaints !! They were delicious. I don’t think the Cwm Talwg gets the recognition it deserves which is a shame as the food was lovely. We will definitely be back. I’d recommend trying this place”

“We’ve just been to the six bells for the first time. One of the best Sunday roasts we’ve ever had. Dog friendly restaurant so perfect place for after a long Sunday walk. Staff were all really lovely and attentive. Excellent food at an excellent price for its quality!”

“Managed to get in for Sunday dinner today with the wife. Absolutely beautiful beef dinner. The meat melted in the mouth, and the roast potatoes and carrots were divine, cauliflower cheese, and broccoli with garden peas and gorgeous beef gravy Very fast service by very friendly happy staff. My apple pie and ice cream polished off a meal. Reasonably priced. Highly recommend you visit if you're in the area. I've been again on Sunday, and I went for the ultimate combo today. Wow, absolutely beautiful, nice 8oz rump steak some chicken breast and a beautiful rack of ribs. The chips were stunning, and the portions were plentiful. The onion rings were lovely. A very well presented meal that I can personally recommend if you have a good appetite.”

“This is is a very friendly pub, the staff will always make you feel welcome and do what they can to make your night better. The beer selection is good and it also tastes very good, you won't find as much choice in the other pubs. On the weekends they have various entertainment from acoustic to bands and everyone taps there feet. There have also recently started doing cocktails and I have tried a few and they are tops. If your passing make the effort you won't be disappointed.”

“Amazing meal and fantastic service! We visited for a birthday meal with our dog after being recommended the Three Horseshoes by our AirBnB hosts and a local family friend. We were a little nervous after seeing some of the recent reviews but our experience could not have been more positive. Excellent menu, delicious food, lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. Highly recommend!”

“We were a table of 4 for Sunday lunch. We arrived early and were nicely invited to have a drink at the bar while we waited. When we were taken to the table by the host Chris, he introduced our sever as Mitch who was really personable and positive. It is unusual to have professional and enthusiastic service at restaurants nowadays, so Mitch was a refreshing change! The chefs serving the carvery were great as well, the food of exceptionally high quality with vegetables not being stewed or cooked to death, but actually fresh and inviting. If you like a carvery, this is superb and at less than £20 per head is great value.”

“Had Stratopramen. A pint is £4.40. Bartender was really friendly, funny and experienced. Would definitely go again. There's a cool gong to denote last order. An actual gong. Good WiFi, plenty of tables and comfy seating. Great place to cosy up after a long day at work. Nice spacious open plan layout with a few pool tables.”

“Staff were lovely, good came out impressively fast and portion size was spectacular. I would recommend coming back all staff were very accommodating and polite also well mannered. The food was extremely delicious and came out steaming hot. Just what you look for when going going for food. I have an allergy and felt safe eating here as the person who took my order also ran my food and repeated the allergy to myself which I thought was the best I’ve experienced in a restaurant with my severe allergy. We were a party of four and food all came out the same time which was nice. Will be coming back. Thank you!!”

“Great friendly local(ish) pub. Our son lives in Barry and we often visit and meet at this pub, often with our other son and granddaughters. Food lovely, good selection of drinks, what more could you want??? Plus A decent vegetarian selection for my daughter in law!”
