We love a Sam Smith’s pub and when we moved to Cardiff recently we’re so happy we have one in the Bay! The fish bites we had were delish, I love the red wine and the team running it are so fab! Extra points if you meet the resident dog! Our favourite bit is the fire in the wee room at the front - gorgeous spot for a winters day and to watch the sunset
Best beer in Cardiff. Big catch fish & squid dish was great. Tasty and big portions. Fell on this place after walking over the barrage , it was perfect being dog friendly and not too busy. Very friendly host and superb bottled beers to take away, especially Stingo!!
This is one of the most popular pubs in the bay area. Packed in summer and generally more quiet in winter, it boasts two real fires in winter. Nice range of natural beer and ciders from the same brewery whoxh were all very good. There is also a pool table here alongside some cosy rooms with the fires. Decor wise they have focused in on the local maritime links which works well. Nice pub to visit although we didnt eat there.
Eaten Sunday lunch here a couple of times. The food has been of good quality and I’ve always found the staff friendly. Ben who served us today was an excellent attentive host. Lacking slightly in atmosphere and has been fairly quiet for a Sunday afternoon. Although, the warmth and smell of the real fire is very welcoming.
Chris and I have come back for our 6 month anniversary. We are reminiscing about our first date. Ordered a couple of drinks,shared a lovely experience and will come back. Served by lovely polite gentleman called Tom. Thank you!
Had an evening work function and am surprised this establishment is still open. No atmosphere whatsoever. No music because they don't have a license. What pub doesn't have a license to play music?? During December when they should be at their busiest, there were 5 non-eating patrons, other than our group. Surprisingly, they still managed to forget two main courses even though we had pre-ordered. The food was bland but edible, portion size was fair and our group had a great time, because we made it great. I would certainly never revisit this pub as it offers absolutely nothing. Disappointing.
Good things: the food was actually really tasty. Not so good things: we were the only customers there, they had our order ahead of time so knew what to cook and how much, and yet they failed to serve two of our colleagues?? They only received their dishes after everyone else finished eating theirs. There's no music there? We asked but it seems they don't even have speakers. Drinks are ridiculously expensive but then I assume it's the case everywhere right now... It was rather tight - there were 19 of us and we were pretty squeezed, I'm not sure how they wanted to accommodate the original number of attendees (a few people cancelled last minute). I am actually impressed this place is still going.
Excellent! Lively views overlooking the bay. Our meal was delicious, and more importantly, our little dog was welcome. Will be returning.

Been here a few times. It's a very unusual pub, very quiet with a tense atmosphere - feels like a library. Also as per other comments, it's pretty expensive. Probably won't return.
