We visited The Corner House during a August bank holiday weekend trip in Cardiff. Prior to the trip I’d done some research and found that the Corner House’s menu looked rather appealing therefore decided to book a table on the Tuesday evening to dine there. We were slightly early upon arrival from our reserved time however there were plenty of places to sit and we were quickly shown to a downstairs table. The venue looked clean and presentable and there were a few other people in during the time of our visit however it wasn’t overly crowded or busy. The service was good and the waitress was quick to take our orders. Overall, I’d say the service was quick and we didn’t seem to be waiting long between courses. They were also prompt to bring the bill when requested and to take payment which is good. The menu items were a little on the pricy side depending on what you ordered therefore I expected it to be good decent tasty food. Unfortunately, I didn’t feel this was the case although all of the food was nice it didn’t exactly wow me or bowl me over and left me feeling a little disappointed. To start I opted for the Pan Fried King Prawns at £10.50 which were tasteless, didn’t really taste of anything. The main was slightly better, I ordered Signature Duo of Pork at £21.25 and I did request the dish with additional scallops but they didn’t have any which was disappointing. The dish itself however was nice. My partner opted for the ‘dirty burger’ and at £21.50 you’d probably expect it to be something special however upon arrival it looked just like any other burger you’d get from any restaurant nothing overly special about it at all. I opted for dessert and had Toffee Crème Brulee at £9.75, not sure what I was expecting with this, the menu said strawberries and there were no strawberries on the plate I’m guessing they didn’t have any. The portion size seemed rather small considering how much I paid for it and once again wasn’t anything special about it. Unfortunately, I don’t believe the food here lives up to the expectations, although it was nice that’s all I can really say about it. Perhaps if I had chosen different dishes my experience would have been better. However, from what we did eat I believe it to be over priced especially the burger my partner opted for. The price point doesn’t really reflect the taste I expected, I thought it would be food I’d rave about for ages afterwards but it was quickly forgettable. In the end perhaps my expectations were too high on this occasion the menu over delivered but in reality, the food under delivered for me. Once again this is just my opinion but I wouldn’t recommend or visit this venue again.

Absolutely loved this place. I had the port & cheddar mushrooms to start and the chargrilled gammon steak for mains — both were excellent. The steak was grilled to perfection, with just the right amount of seasoning and char, far better than the usual pub standard. Everything felt well balanced, especially the flavours and textures. What really stood out was the attention to detail — not just in the food, but also in the overall service. The staff were kind and professional, and the atmosphere was warm and relaxed. You can tell they care about the customer experience. If you’re looking for a casual but high-quality lunch, this is definitely a spot worth visiting.

I was excited for the menu with all the environmental options and promising vegetarian for me and meat for others in our party. Unfortunately it was a huge disappointment - but they did fix one thing, which was appreciated - and they had two good things: the halloumi fries and chips - so perfect! The burger was over burned, they replaced it and he liked it. But the Mac and cheese was completely bland like they forgot the cheese, - the onion rings were undercooked and oily, and - the pesto asparagus was bitter and tough. They said they’d make me more, but never did and I was tired so didn’t chase it. I did tell them the new burger was good and appreciated. We paid a lot of money for all of that and it was disappointing to send it back. I hope they improve.

The food is absolutely delicious and the steak was absolutely stunning. Everything we had was cooked perfectly and I really enjoyed my evening. The staff and service was 10/10 so well done for that. Check my full review out on my instagram page @keemanaans_food_blog

Had a lovely Sunday Lunch during a Christmas Shopping trip. We went in on the off chance but weren't hopeful of getting a table as it was a very busy day. However the guy who met us was very friendly and accommodating and found us a table. So glad he did because the roast lunch was beautiful and the service great. We had a lovely couple of hours and would definitely go again.

The service was great, front of house was very welcoming, however our table was unwiped on arrival. The food was tasty however all of our chips were on the burnt side. When we asked for the bill the deposit we paid had been left off and we were also disappointed to see that mixers were an additional charge.! We did enjoy our desserts and the waitress was extremely helpful .

First up, great service from Grace and Kelly who looked after a big and slightly unwieldy group so well, we really appreciate their work. Food here was absolutely amazing and the place managed our orders so well, especially considering it's an autumn international weekend so town was packed. The steaks were incredible and the desserts delightful. A shame that some of our drinks had to be in plastic cups but I appreciate that's probably out of their control. Loos are a long way from the main bar area and weren't in the best state but this is the only minor comment on an otherwise really lovely evening. Would absolutely come here to eat again

Had a really beautiful lunch there. Great service and lovely staff. Everyone of them was very welcoming. They have a great wine list too with some exciting wines by the bottle and lots of outdoor seating that would be great for summer. My pizza was delicious and the Brownie for afters was very tasty. Would very much recommend.

Visited yesterday during a shopping trip to town for the first time in forever. Booking was very easy and we only had to wait a short while to be seated. I was very reassured with regards to social distancing, track and trace was in place and the tables were spaced well. Staff were all wearing masks despite the warm day and I saw tables being thoroughly cleaned between diners.ordering was very simple via the app and the food came very quickly even though it was quite busy. The food was hot with a fair portion size and was delicious, the cocktails were amazing! Special mention to James who explained what items were vegan or how to make them vegan. He was very knowledgeable and professional. We will definitely visit again soon
