   The only place I have local where I can buy quality hand tools but I also buy my machinery from them because they're just that awesome. The staff in the Cardiff store are superb. Nothing is too much trouble for them, and their knowledge is second to none. Worth 6 stars to be honest

   Cardiff's Axminster Store runs hands on experience days in various crafts. I just attended a woodturning one and gained enough confidence to turn a little mushroom. It was a a fun day and the staff were so encouraging I really feel i achieved something. It is always friendly with free tea or coffee and access to 'facilities'. It made a good day out. Thank you to the staff.

   First visit to the shop in Cardiff today, was pleasant, was able to wander round without being hassled but when I asked questions for advise and help. Staff were very knowledgeable and helpful. I think I had Adrian serving me today and he went above and beyond to give me a demonstration of a jig set I was looking at. Other than having a good range and variety of tools and equipment I will be back because the service was so good. Thanks from the novice who bought the jig set & table saw

   One of my favourite places. Went to the scroll saw workshop last weekend and had a great time learning how to use, as a complete beginner Lee the manager was so helpful and made sure I could come away with something to show for my efforts! Honestly the atmosphere here is more like a workshop than a just a shop, everyone is friendly and knowledgeable and willing to help. Deserves all the praise it gets, just a lovely place run by lovely people.

   Came from the other end of Cardiff because I wanted two toggle clamps and I didn’t want to order them online and have to wait. But they’re £36 each. So I had to put them back and drive all the way back :-( what’s the point in having things other stores don’t have, when you charge so much for the privilege

   I bought a Makita orbital sander. The sanding pad came apart after about five hours of use. Axminster said that they regard that part of the sander to be a consumable item and offered to order me another one at around £50. Further, they suggested that I may have used the sander incorrectly or with too much force. I think it's probably hard to tell if I used too much force but I've used several Mirka sanders in the same way without issue. I've also used Makita tools for many years and found them to be excellent to be fair. Maybe I got a dud. Go ahead.and buy from Axminster if you think a £50 consumable item per day is acceptable. Otherwise buy from somewhere more helpful. (Makita are currently assisting where Axminster didn't.)
