   After some issues with an online order I went into the Coventry store where the Assistant Manager Alex could not have been more helpful! She spent her own time in the phone to Customer Services, reordering my order and clearing up what was no longer in stock. She could not apologise enough, even though it was not her error, just simply a technical error through the website. She really went above and beyond for me as we had spoken about some being my daughter’s birthday presents, which I could not appreciate more. Has made me shop within the actual shop now more than online. Always a friendly face, ready to help in Coventry!

   This shop is amazing, the toy stock is always plentiful and good, employees are always super friendly, especially Alex & Neha who are always willing to help with anything you need without making you feel at all like a hassle, and instead making you feel perfectly welcome inside.

   I have always had a good experience in this store. The staff are friendly, especially Alex (Assistant Manager) She has gone above and beyond to help sort issues out for me. I visit this store often and Alex always recognises me and is always happy to help. She is polite and friendly and nothing is too much trouble. I wish there was more like her out there. She is a credit to your team.

   I visited the Coventry Lower Precinct store on Tuesday (14/10/25) to return a toy I purchased on Sunday (12/10/25). After assembling it, I realised it was not suitable for my 1.5-year-old baby as the parts came off easily, which I found unsafe. I packed it back immediately and went to the store the next morning to return it. One of the store employees confirmed that I could return the item, but when we reached the billing area, the assistant manager (I believe her name is Alex Shortis) intervened and was extremely rude and unprofessional. Despite my polite explanation, she raised her voice at me and my family in front of other customers and refused the return, saying, “Do whatever you want.” I am deeply disappointed by the way we were treated—especially in front of my wife and baby. It was an embarrassing and unpleasant experience. I request that this matter be investigated seriously, as such behaviour from a store manager is unacceptable and reflects poorly on the store’s customer service

   Mega busy. There are too many toys on the floor. Literally! It looks like a scene from toy story. Help me Woody to clean up this mess because the staff are useless. I asked for directions to the paw patrol section and instead I got a tour of the shop. The card machine had broken down and I had to retry payment 4 times before the genius decision from the till operator to try 'another till' hmmmm.

   I would like to write about my harrowing experience with your manager DANNY at the Entertainer, Lower Precinct, Coventry City Centre. One Saturday 3rd December 2022, at approximately 1430, I entered your store with my daughter and my sister looking to buy a birthday gift for an 8-year-old girl. I decided on the Gabby’s Dollhouse – Games HQ Board Game which did not have a price tag to it. I approached the till and ask the price to one of the staff and she informed me that the price was GBP13.33. I decided to buy the item and paid for it using my contactless app. After I was given the receipt, I noticed a TAMAGOTCHI on the shelf at the counter. I informed the staff that I would like to return the Gabby’s Dollhouse – Games HQ Board Game and instead buy the two TAMAGOTCHI instead. She said it was possible, but she would have to call her manager to do it. 2. When the manager came to the till, I apologized for the inconvenience to which he replied, “Don’t worry I was just about to leave, I’ll just do this quickly. The manager was a short white male, brown hair wearing a shirt and tie. His name tag read as DANNY. He processed the refund without referring to my receipt on the counter and told me to pay GBP24.00 for the difference. I took the latest receipt and left the counter to find my sister. 3. It suddenly occurred to me that I was short-changed for the item. The TAMAGOTCHI cost GBP17.00 each and I purchased two sets. Which came to a total of GBP34.00. I was asked to pay GBP24.00 when the refund for the Gabby’s Dollhouse should have been GBP13.33 instead of just GBP10.00. To be certain of this, I checked my Lloyds banking app and found out that I in fact did pay GBP13.33 and not GBP10.00. This means I should have paid GBP20.67 in difference and not GBP24.00 as charged by the manager. 4. When I explained to the manager, he quickly brushed me off and said, ‘No, I worked with the receipt you gave me. That was the amount’. I told him, ‘No it was a Gabby’s Dollhouse – Games HQ Board Game and not ‘OTI 2 in 1 HAIR’ that was marked on the receipt. He told me ‘Look I have your refund receipt right here’ and he showed me a refund receipt with OTI 2 in 1 HAIR and a customer signature that was not mine. I told him, ‘I’m sorry, but that’s not mine. I didn’t buy those two items. Clearly there was a mistake. You used that receipt to make me refund and not my receipt.’ He became even more aggressive and told me ‘WELL YOU DIDN’T SEE THAT RECEIPT. THAT WAS SOMEONE ELSE’S AND I CAN’T SHOW YOU BECAUSE IT PRIVATE!’ 5. He became extremely hostile and repeatedly atold me ‘I NEVER MAKE MISTAKES’ and it was my fault for producing that receipt that he took GBP10 off. I showed him the proof on my LLOYDS banks app of the initial purchase of GBP13.33 that was charged to me, to which he replied ‘ That’s rubbish, I’m not going to go off that. We never trust bank screen shots. Anyway, I need to go home now.’ 6.All the while, as this took place, the staff whom originally keyed in my purchase just stood staring while twirling her hair refusing to jump in of any accountability at all. 7. I asked him why I wasn’t provided a return receipt or asked to sign anything for my exchange/return to which he replied ‘that’s none of your business.’ I told him that it was impossible to dispute a bank transaction to which he replied, “TAKE YOUR THINGS OR DON’T TAKE YOUR THINGS, I DON’T CARE. I AM NOT GIVING YOU A REFUND. YOU’RE NOT HAPPY? GO SORT IT OUT WITH CUSTOMER SERVICE! I’M LEAVING THIS CONVERSATION AND WALKING OUT RIGHT NOW AND I’M GOING HOME! 8. I told him I was upset, and he should not have been so condescending to which he replied, ‘YOU REFUSE TO UNDERSTAND ME, I AM JUST LEAVING THIS CONVERSATION I DON’T MAKE MISTAKES’. I felt that I had been left with no choice therefore I walked out of the shop extremely upset and distraught.

   Strange how I always assumed this store was expensive. Popped in and realised how wrong I was. It has an abundant display of toys and games for children of various ages with the prices well labelled. Movement around the store was a bit tight, otherwise you get value for your money and it's always pleasant to watch the excitement of kids as they ogle so many toys!
