The Staff are lovely reliable, friendly people, caring as well in my experience. And the breakfast was very tasty. In honesty I stay there for some peace and relaxation. The Gym is Brilliant.

We stayed at the highfield hotel for 3 nights while visiting family nearby. The family room was lovely , very spacious and clean. Tea and coffee making facilities, Tv with Netflix and prime, loads of room in wardrobes and drawers to use. We had food and drinks in the highfield pub next door which was great and had a really good selection of Gluten Free options which we enjoyed. Located well 5 minute walk to cafes, supermarkets and restaurants. Staff were all friendly and helpful. When we come back we will stay here again.

Extremely run down old hotel. Has a certain old world charm if you miss smokey smelling hotels from the 70s. Front doors don't work properly, WiFi doesn't reach rooms properly, both taps in our room were running hot, and only one electrical socket in a room for a family of 4. That being said, staff were friendly, including filling a water bottle because of the lack of cold water in the room and acknowledging issues. Pool was nice too. Edit to reply to owner: All issues were mentioned, and staff acknowledged that they could do nothing about WiFi or hot water. Staff said that room always has hot water only, hence why they were happy to fill my water bottles (I ran it for 5mins, it only got hotter) and that WiFi to that room is always issue.

The room was a decent size, bigger than the picture made it out to seem. However there was no hand soap in the bathroom. I had to find an employee, who's rarely at the desk. I had to go to the bar/restaurant to find anyone and request some to which I was told they weren't even sure if they had any left (we arrived on a Thursday so it's not even like it was following a rush). I didn't get anything that night, however there was some outside my door the following morning. The pool was cloudy, and there was something floating below the surface. I'm not sure what it was but the feel resembled wet paper towel before it disintegrates. The Wi-Fi ONLY works in the lobby not the rooms and even in the lobby it's spotty. The restaurant closes at 8 so if you are out and about you can forget about dinner/room service. We also didn't have a do not disturb nor a clean request sign to put out on our door. The batteries in the TV remote were almost dead and they didn't have any spare to change it out. The employee ended up taking some out of something else for it. The hallways smelled absolutely horrible. The employees were nice enough but all around I was disappointed with the this hotel. The only thing it had going for it was the king size bed (which is the equivalent of a queen here)

Stayed here as was attending a birthday party. The room for the party was lovely. Room - in desperate need of a make over. Very very tired. Spacious room and clean but certainly not comfortable or an enjoyable stay. Stains on all the furniture. Bathroom grotty. Breakfast I can honestly say it was the worst I have ever had. The sausage were the cheapest on the market. It came with very pale scrambled egg no choice in egg, hash brown was a weird grey colour inside. We left practically everything This place needs bulldozing

Really last minute booking due to snow being forecast , and the second night also because of ice . Handiest for work is why I choose it. Lovely large and comfortable room and they really couldn't do enough to accommodate my situation. Meals at the adjoining pub also excellent and good value for money Thank you so much Diane

Good size room, could use some updating. Smelled of pot smoke in the entrance airlock and definitely smelled cigarette smoke outside some of the rooms. Friendly service but not much choice for cooked food except on the weekends. Generally good value but the location is showing its age.

The rooms are huge and the staff are friendly and helpful, but the hotel needs a updating. As soon as we got to the front door there was an overwhelming smell of marijuana, which continued into the reception, upstairs in the halls. It says no smoking but there were cigarette butts on the carpet in the hallway.
