The family room was a good size and basic facilities were offered. For the low cost of the stay, the hotel met our needs and acted as a good base to travel from. The breakfast offered in the morning was well cooked with good portion sizes and the food offered in the evenings looked good. However, due to the noise from the road, the pub and from general 'housekeeping' issues (draughty windows, doors slamming through the night due to draught, etc) I would not recommend it if you wish to have a peaceful evening in. Perfect place for staying if you're going out in the evening and returning late though. For the low cost, perfection is not to be expected so close to a city. The bathroom, bedding, etc seemed clean, though decorating would make the room more presentable (there were splash stains/marks down a few of the walls). Overall an enjoyable stay, but the noise let it down when it was advertised as being in a quiet area.

It's so cheap that it seems churlish to complain but there are quite significant issues that need to be attended to: -the place is very dirty, particularly the carpet which looks as though it's never been cleaned. We walked with our sandals on the whole day but just looking at it made our skin crawl. -the wall and the bathroom door was besmirched with a suspicious brown stain. All it needed was a wipe. The fact that such obvious stains were not attended to is worrying. - The door kept shaking violently at intervals over the night, presumably because someone else had opened a door or window. The noise was so loud we were kept awake in anticipation of the next sound. Need a more sturdy door or stiff lock that won't allow the door to shake. -Our TV didn't work. A worker came to look at it but couldn't do anything about it. He did seem genuinely concerned. On the plus side the breakfast was nice and the workers friendly. The toilet room was also quite spacious, if not the cleanest.

Been around a few decades this place and is now a Marston's pub. Popular with students with a jukebox playing, food and bar games like 2 pool tables, darts and slot machines. Hats off to the chef lady who cooked an amazing all day breakfast. Great eggs and the mushrooms and bacon really did have something different about them - char grilled?!?

Despite being a busy event (fireworks) the hotel was just about able to accommodate the amount of attendees. Was however disappointed at the fireworks being over an hour later than initially stated on Facebook. Drink prices not too expensive (though could be better).

Very nice hotel. Friendly staff, warm welcome. Enjoyed my stay there. Free Wifi available which makes me feel almost like home

absolutely appalling, if I wanted bed bugs or something similar of the sort, I would have requested to stay in a dog kennel. It has been four days and still it is very prominent. I thought bed bugs were something of the past, before we discovered hygiene. Needless to say I shall not revisit.
