We were a family group of 14 visiting for dinner and an overnight stay. The attention to detail given to us was exemplary throughout, and the staff were efficient and friendly at all times. The rooms are delightful: spacious, beautifully furnished and with high quality accessories. The complimentary biscuits and gin were a lovely extra. Dinner was superb: locally sourced ingredients, including excellent meat, served and presented well. The restaurant was busy but the pace of the meal was maintained, highlighting good preparation. Breakfast, remarkably, was a step up: copious options, generous portions and the same attentiveness that characterised our time at the Nevill. It's also pleasing to note that the place is still a pub where drinkers are welcome, and the gastro aspect hasn't made those who simply want a pint or two feel less comfortable. Thanks to all the team for such a memorable pre-Christmas stay. We needed a brisk morning walk to burn off some of the calories!

The food was incredible and they went above and beyond with my intolerances, there wasn't any wine that I could have which was absolutely fine as they really did try their best to help... It was just unfortunate that we had to wait well over half an hour to even discuss the wine options and had been served our meal without drinks. We did feel quite ignored and even trying to get anyone's attention seemed difficult, even though we could see staff standing around at the other side of the restaurant.

Visited for lunch after high recommendations from friends and myself on previous visits to the restaurant. The service on arrival in keeping with location and welcomed at the bar, accommodating front of house as we had no prior reservation. The lunch was over priced as expected and happy to pay for the environment, and highly sort after location, however the unwelcomed dog eating at the extremely close table next to us completely unnecessary. Served on the same plates as main menu plates completely off putting and a dog eating sausage from the table adjacent. Felt like a dog petting zoo. If there is a dog menu served to tables absolutely would not have visited (not advertised). Left promptly without finishing our meal. Won’t be revisiting based on this experience.

Disappointed – Sunday 5th October 2025 Visited today for Sunday lunch and left feeling really let down. We ordered two roast dinners — one pork, one beef. The pork came with three slices of meat, but most of it was covered with a thick layer (about 1.5cm) of fat halfway round each slice, plus crackling. By the time I’d trimmed it all off, there was barely a full slice of actual meat left. The bill came to £95 for two roasts, two desserts (£12 each), two beers, a Campari and a glass of house red at £8. The ginger sticky pudding was decent, though not worth the price, and the pear crumble — served in a sundae glass — was bland and far from premium in flavour or presentation. For a gastropub Sunday lunch, the pricing is comparable to somewhere like The Oak Room at The George in Stamford, but sadly the quality and attention to detail didn’t match. I mentioned the issue with the pork, but nothing was done about it — disappointing, as it shows little regard for returning customers. It’s a shame, because the rest of the roast was lovely and the atmosphere is always great. But with so much competition for good Sunday lunches locally, we’ll be going elsewhere next time.

We booked a table for Sunday lunch with friends. The table was ready, we were escorted and seated and order drinks, perfect. Lunch was very good, a number of choices Roast beef or in my case belly pork. Very well presented. The staff were very attentive. All in all a great time. Thank you.

Friends of ours who live locally took us here for Sunday lunch in late March. The pub/restaurant is very well appointed, decor top notch, the loos almost too nice to use. The lunch menu is small but perfectly balanced, 5 starters and mains or thereabouts, but the food quality is exceptional - my beef sirloin was as good as I've had anywhere, I didn't want it to end. Service was exceptional, someone is very good at recruitment. It's not cheap but is still very good value for money. Would recommend to anyone.

We hadn't booked but were warmly welcomed. Sunday roast for 2 arrived swiftly. Beautifully presented, delicately seasoned, didn't want the meal to end. Delicious! Lovely atmosphere too; warm & comfortable.

We visited today with the hope of having lunch not realising that there was no ‘sandwich’ menu. I have family living in the village and used to love coming to this pub when I was younger. The service we received today does not make me want to rush back. It was made very clear that had we have been locals or regulars we would’ve received a different level of service. My husband went to the bar and asked the girl if you had a sandwich menu to be given a straight no ….. no offer of alternatives which was offered to a lady who came in a little later and was clearly known. We stayed and had a drink, the pub is beautiful but the lack of good customers service has put us off visiting again soon.

The room was lovely the staff were excellent. The big breakfast was very good. The village is absolutely wonderful. I spoke to the old lady who lives next door…over 50 years…she said the people running nevill arms now are the best she has seen. I don’t doubt it. The pub restaurant and bar are all top class. And very affordable.
