I had read the previous reviews so I had mixed feelings in relation to booking the park and stay package but I couldn't be more wrong. I have never stayed anywhere that really takes hospitality seriously and provides such a personal touch. If you are looking for a big commercial chain type hotel, then this is not for you. If you are looking for somewhere clean and tidy run by people who genuinely want to make your stay as easy and friendly as possible then this is perfect!

If you are looking for a hotel near the airport, this location is fine and the staff is friendly. But the campsite has outdated facilities, is very noisy because of the traffic and offers no value for money. Not recommended.

Would not recommend this to anyone. - Terrible location noisy and next to a busy road. All pitches are the same. - Pitches very close to the next one. No personal space. - Unpleasant attitude from the owner which made us uncomfortable. -Over priced. -Photos on pitch up are very misleading as behind all the hedges is roads. We arrived late afternoon as we had booked 2 nights for our camper, awning and 2 dogs. Over the duration of our week holiday in Wales it was the most expensive we paid, so expected a little more. Everyone we met before this was friendly and very hospitable. Driving into the carpark of the hotel I could see the spaces for the campers and tents with electric hook up. It was very overcrowded. I didn't like how busy it was. So we stayed in the van to see if there was anywhere else local with more space. The owner came over and asked was everything OK. We explain we didn't realise the space would be small. She replied well how much space do you need anyway. She was very defensive and had an attitude. My husband said its not personal it's just we would prefer more space for our dogs. She replied well they need to be kept on a lead. We were aware of this so it wasn't an issue. We had been using dog training rope to give them some space to roam safely while still attached to the leads. My husband asked if you can give us 5 minutes we'll have a look to see if we can find somewhere else. She replied well you won't get a refund. Again we hadn't even considered this as for us being comfortable is more important. She walked away then came back and took my husband to the grass space and showed him a space we could use but it didn't have electric hook up. So we moved the van there not bothered about having electric as we have solar power and leisure batteries. So we thought we'd give it a try. We let the dogs out on a short lead but notice the area was full of litter and cans. My husband who was about a metre or so away from me asked me a question and I could not hear a word he said due to the busy road with lots traffic using it. The corner pitch offered was right at the junction so it was extremely noisy. If the owner didn't have an attitude and take our concerns about the location personally I would not have written this review as it's never anything I've had to do before. I should have read some of the reviews and looked on maps to get a better idea of the surroundings. Lesson for me.

Very lovely stay in our campervan. Sharon is very friendly to talk and very helpful. We both enjoyed drinks in the hotel and watching football. Also I'm gluten free so I could have gluten free toast for breakfast. Claire &Gary Rothwell

We were stranded at short notice and the Vale hotel took us in, gave us breakfast and looked after us for the entire day. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Sharon and Gerard took care of us like family. We are forever grateful. We will definitely be staying again.

This hotel is a Royal Jewel of a place to stay in the heart of Barry. If you're visiting Barry/Barry Island or need a place to stay before heading to Cardiff airport for a flight; Then DONT look anywhere else to stay. Sharon & Gerald make you feel very welcome and at ease as soon as you walk through the doors. Rooms are spacious, extremely clean and pleasantly decorated with that homely touch that other hotels lack these days. Nothing is too much for these two lovely people and they go above and beyond to ensure that your visit with them is comfortable and relaxing. Gerald is amazing in the kitchen and breakfast was more than satisfactory. Already looking to book a stay here again and would recommend this hotel with high regard time and time again.

I cannot agree more with the other reviews regarding this hotel. I stayed here during early September for a few days. As others have mentioned before, Sharon and Gerald , the owners, are kind, lovely and very welcoming. The minute I walked in, I felt right at home. I definitely recommend staying there. Thanks a lot for your hospitality.

What can I say about this campsite !!! To expensive for what you get. It's like motorhomeing on the side of the road only 50 yards from the main road on two sides so lots of road noise. Shower block dirty and dated. Nice welcome friendly staff but sorry just not good enough in this day and age. Old car's caravans and building materials at the bottom of the field by shower block. Need to do better

My holiday was like National Lampoon’s Vacation or carry on Camping but this was no way related to where we stayed. So me and my friend, my daughter and her friend rock up in a motorhome that we have never driven ( 2 ladies, 2 girls). Immediately greeted by the main man of campsite arrivals. Asked about how we fill up our water tank, he was straight on it, done it for us but also showed us how. Sharon came out to meet us, also to check us in. Although happy campers we were welcomed to come into the hotel for a drink if we wanted. The hotel was beautiful, well maintained and cosy and welcoming. I saw food delivered to guests of the hotel and they very much appeared to be enjoying their food. We had several disasters as it turned out we arrived with no gas(or couldn’t figure it out) mentioned it and immediately help was on hand (sorry about your hand) got a little gas for one night. Shower and toilets were clean, only people that let it down is people using it, breaking showers, shoving blue paper towels down the toilet and blocking it. Lovely people, would definitely stay there again. You are welcome In Portsmouth to stay in my humble abode for all the help and welcoming you gave us. Thanks for the help, welcome and information you provided us xx
