It was named in honor of Roald Dahl, with 'Plass'—the Norwegian word for 'place'—chosen to reflect his Norwegian immigrant heritage and ties to Cardiff. The area was once one of the docks that thrived as a coal port during the late 19th and much of the 20th century but has since been transformed into a modern cultural space through redevelopment. Surrounded by contemporary architecture, the plaza creates a unique atmosphere that combines Welsh heritage with a modern aesthetic.

   A great day out during the summer holidays for all. Rides for both big and little children including the adults who want to be big kids. The staff are friends and plenty of security around if needed. No toilet facilities here so you will need to use the Wales Millennium Centre if you need to go.

   Cardiff Bay is my secret place, when I feel stressed and overwhelmed I visit this place to take a little wake in the edge of town. Great place for family and kids.

   What a Fun evening at this place. You can enjoy boat rides, different games and rides for children and adult. It's always buzzing with people and have mostly all big resturants where one can dine in. Its also good to take a pleasant walk around and is highly recommended to walk till the dam.

   I LOVE Cardiff Bay! I don't want to speak too highly of it as I've met people who aren't it's biggest fan. There's just something about the atmosphere that brings me here again and again. There are tons of amazing restaurants and bars each with there own unique selling point.
