Our dog passed away during Mitral Valve Surgery performed by Matteo Rossanesse and Dan Brockman. That same week, two other dogs also died at the same surgery. I am not writing this to condemn them, as this is a high-risk procedure, but to make people who are considering it aware of what they may be facing. Post-surgery complications can be just as serious as the surgery itself, if not more so. The success rates presented to us were very likely related only to the surgery itself, and not to the recovery period afterward. They also attempted to increase the price of the surgery at the last minute, after we had already agreed on the original amount. When we were supposed to receive a refund at the end, we waited approximately two months. I cannot say that they were not kind to us - however, I am writing this review for anyone who may be considering the same procedure. I wish the clinic more success in future procedures and a more honest and transparent approach toward patients who are placing someone’s life in their hands, along with a significant amount of money.

I cannot speak highly enough of the care Ria received at the Queen Mother Hospital for Animals. After months of deteriorating health and conflicting diagnoses at other practices, we were referred to the RVC by our primary vet. Within 24 hours, Abel and the internal medicine team had identified issues that had been missed and provided clarity we desperately needed. What impressed me most was their methodical, thorough approach. They didn’t jump to invasive procedures or expensive tests unnecessarily. The ultrasound revealed intestinal inflammation that explained her weight loss, and their urine analysis showed dramatic improvement in protein levels - something that changed our entire understanding of her condition. Abel took time to explain everything clearly, answering all our questions without making us feel rushed. He even appreciated that I’d been recording consultations and taking detailed notes for my wife - not all vets are that understanding. The cost estimate was transparent and accurate (came in at £1,930 vs £2,200 estimate). For a teaching hospital, the care was exceptional - students were involved but always supervised, and Ria was treated with genuine compassion. Most importantly, we went in fearing the worst and came home with a manageable treatment plan and realistic hope. Ria ate enthusiastically for the first time in weeks after coming home. If your pet needs specialist care, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the RVC. They gave us our cat back. Thank you Abel, Tatiana, Chris, and the entire team.

Excellent hospital. The staff is very knowledgeable and polite. We've become regulars sadly, because our cat was recently diagnosed with cancer, but the whole team makes us feel very comfortable and reassured that Coco is getting the best treatment.
