We stayed at the pub when we were walking the Rutland Round. The accommodation is in another building out the back of the main building, so, lovely and quiet. Our room was clean and well maintained. We understood that the restaurant serves authentic curries as well as a traditional selection of pub meals. Firstly, we had a drink in the bar. Unfortunately, the one beer wasn't available so had to do with a lager. Having built up a hearty hiker's appetite, we chose curry. For me, it was the tastiest, most succulent curry I have ever eaten. The portions were good and the service was spot on.

It’s a. good experience …. The place looked nice and had a relaxed atmosphere. The drinks were well made, and the bartender was friendly. The food tasted fresh and delicious. The staff were polite and served everything on time. Overall, it was a pleasant visit and I would go there again.

We tried the Pan Asian menu from the restaurant — the staff, Narendra, was really friendly and the food, especially the Chicken 65, was out of this world. We only ordered starters and customised them to be spicy. The Samosa Chaat was good, and the Fried Chicken Gyoza and Duck Spring Roll were also very tasty. I have personally asked for the chef to be complimented!

Came for a two night stay in the hotel, but also ate here for dinner on our first night. The dinner menu is split into two sections, one with more pub classics, and another section with Asian cuisine, mostly Indian. We both opted for a curry partner having garlic chicken, and myself, kukuri chicken. We also had garlic naan, egg fried rice, onion bhaji, and shrimp tempura. All the food was excellent, but the standout for me was the bhaji, probably the best I've ever had. The kukuri chicken was excellent too, and was at the limit of my spice tolerance, so it may be too much for other people. For dessert we shared a mint teardrop, which was a bit like a giant aero mousse, but richer. I definitely recommend having dinner here. Now the rooms, which for me is where the Marquess of Exeter fell down. The rooms trap the heat so well, that on my stay it was unbearably hot and I struggled to sleep, despite that the walls were also very thin, and you could hear everything your neighbours were up to including snoring all night. If I'm being particularly nit picky, the rooms could do with a bit of maintenance too. That being said, the bed was comfortable, the rooms were large, and we had our own bathroom in the room. As we booked late it was also reasonably priced.

We stayed 2 nights in a premium double which was very nice. The village is beautiful with local walks from the pub and the viaduct nearby. The staff were super helpful and friendly building up their new business. Lots of work going on improving and refitting but not intrusive. The pub is beautiful, beer was good and the Indian food excellent. It was good value for money too. The room could do with a bigger TV (small item) and the steak and ale pie needs to be replaced with a better item than the one served which was disappointing and bought in. Overall I'd recommend as a place to explore the area at reasonable cost, clean and convenient for Rutland's attractions.

Absolutely fantastic Indian food. It reminded my parents (who are Indian) of home! Wonderful atmosphere and excellent service. Prasanna looked after us so well. This is definite Michelin star quality in a relaxed pub atmosphere. We’ll be back soon.

We shared most of the options on the Indian menu and WOW! I'm just gutted I don't live locally enough to eat here weekly. The food is incredibly good, the service is perfect and the staff are warm, friendly and professional. I can't wait to go back next year. Thank you!

Came on a quiet Thursday. Staff was amazing, all very kind and attentive. The menu was good, although it had either pub or curry food to choose, I found that there wasn’t much option in the curry side, they were dishes you could make at home really. The food was lovely, nothing amazing but it was good! Very good portion sizes too! Setting of the place is wonderful. Overall, I’d probably only go back if I was in the area and wanted some food.
