I stayed for the 2 night Christmas package. The Christmas Day Dinner was absolutely diabolical and extremely disappointing for the money we paid. The hotel didn't quite live up to its full potential. Great location, lovely and clean, great reception, concierge, and bar staff, but the food was hit and miss. Overall it wasn't an unpleasant stay, I enjoyed my time in Windsor, but I have to stress the diabolical standard of the Christmas Dinner on Christmas Day. It was such a let down. The turkey was reconstituted and tasteless. It was served with watery gravy already poured all over the dinner, only 3 tiny soggy allegedly roast potatoes, 2 rock hard brussel sprouts, two pieces of extremely tiny chopped up bits of parsnip, not even one whole parsnip, two tiny pieces of badly cooked broccoli, a few slices of carrot, and the most pathetic and undercooked pigs in blankets I've ever seen in my life. It was a huge disappointment. The Christmas pudding was cold and rubbery and served with cold brandy sauce. It was advertised as a 5 course meal but it wasn't. No complimentary teas or coffees served after the meal at the table, and no petit fours or mince pies to end the meal. On the positive side, my mum's choice of dessert, the orange and chocolate cheesecake, was very nice. There was too much emphasis on trying to be "a la carte", which did not work, rather than serving a traditional British home style Christmas Dinner, which it what we thought we would be getting. On Christmas Eve my main course was served stone cold and I had to send it back. The meat (pork) was nice once I eventually got to taste it, but again hardly any vegetables. On the flip side, the breakfast buffet was very good (although no tomatoes) and so was the evening buffet on Christmas night. It still didn't make up for the awful main dinner on Christmas Day though. The "main event" was appalling for the money we had paid. We mentioned it to the serving staff but received an extremely mute response. There didn't seem to be enough staff to accommodate serving the food compared to the amount of guests staying. At times priority was given to a coach trip of elderly people, who also received cold food on at least one occasion, which had been left on serving trollies in an area near the drafty revolving front door entrance, and a dog who was well behaved but salivating. It was quite off putting. The reception area, seating area, bar, and restaurant were clean and nicely decorated. Check in was very efficient and professional, although the parking was a bit confusing at first. Many of the staff were very friendly, pleasant, and professional, although one of the porters taking luggage to a room through the bar area hit my foot with a suitcase as he walked past. He did not apologise and gave me such a filthy look as if it was my fault he'd walked into me! The bar staff were very good and the area kept nice, but due to the design of the building there is a constant draft throughout some of the seating areas coming from the revolving front entrance door. Our rooms were standard double rooms, although one room had twin beds put together. Whilst the rooms were very clean, there are some areas which require improvement. The carpet was in dire need of replacement and was very stained. The shower and toilet were extremely clean, the bed was very comfortable, lovely fluffy towels, but maintenance is required in certain areas such as the replacement of shower tiles and paintwork. I was assured it wasn't a room where dogs were allowed (the hotel is dog friendly) but there were paw print like stains on the carpet and a hint of doggy odor. The hotel should tell you if they place you in a dog friendly room. The refreshment facilities in the rooms were very good and included a fridge with complimentary water and a coffee machine, as well as the standard kettle for tea & coffee.

Perfectly located hotel directly across the street from the Windsor Castle entrance. I stayed for 2 days. Management is horrific. My keys stopped working on day 2; had to get new ones issued. At 3:40 am my final morning, I woke to a male employee standing in my room telling me he'd received complaints about the noise from my TV. Scared the living daylights out of me! I was sound asleep. So inappropriate and a terrifying experience for a solo traveler. Why not telephone me with the complaint? The walls must be very thin, as TV sound was set at 9 (and I apparently had fallen asleep while watching it). The WIFI is virtually nonexistent, even using guest plus. Very frustrating. I cannot recommend this hotel to solo women travelers, stay at the Christopher Wren instead where I stayed last year with no unpleasant experiences.

This hotel is a 5 minute walk from Windsor and Eton Central. Right in front of Windsor Castle. There are plenty of restaurants, shopping and attractions within minutes. There are lifts for baggage at the entrance and to the accommodation floors. Caleys restaurant has a grand menu featuring south Asian cuisine. Very friendly staff and a lovely hotel in general. Stay here for a great time.

High end amenities. The best shower I’ve ever had. Very comfortable room. The mattress, however, needs replacing - a surprisingly uncomfortable bed in an otherwise luxurious room. The restaurant is very good - excellent gnocchi! If you want to park in the hotel’s very secure enclosed space, think again. You’ll be given cryptic instructions that will make no sense at first. The downlow: plug the postal code that they scribble on a piece of paper into your gps system and it will take you through a baffling circuitous route half a mile around to the back of the hotel. Then you’ll have to call the front desk (be sure your phone works in the UK); they’ll meet you there, open the door, and direct you into a very small space. Better, I think, to park in one of the outdoor public lots. But if you are worried about crime and don’t mind the Β£40/day fee, it’s there for you. The staff was mostly very helpful and friendly, especially in the restaurant and housekeeping. Overall I’d give the hotel 4.5 stars, and the location is terrific.

We used the conference facilities and accommodation here for 2 days & nights and it was great. The team were fantastic, very friendly, helpful and attentive. The food at lunch was very nice and they recommended a fantastic Italian just down the road for the evening. Can't fault them...and what a location! We were able to watch the 'changing of the guard' from the entrance of the hotel - much to the delight of my European colleagues!

We had an overnight stay here on the way down to Blenheim Palace where we were going on the Christmas trail. I have stayed at this hotel previously on business where the conference room we used was fine and food and service were also very good. I chose this hotel again as it is central on the main High Street and our room (Room 304) had a view of the castle. The Hotel is ideally situated and everything is just a few minutes walk. The room was very good. If I was to be extremely picky - I would say that the TV, although flat screen, is a little dated now and there was no coffee capsules or milk available and we had to ask for it. We ate out in the evening but had Breakfast in the morning. A normal mix of Continental and English where you serve yourself. There is also a menu where you can order breakfast directly from the kitchen Another reason I chose the hotel is they have an underground car park. In December 2022 it cost Β£39 for an overnight stay. You should pre-book or let the Hotel know you will be using their car park. On arrival, you press the intercom button and the concierge will allow you entry. Same applies if you want to leave - you need to speak to the concierge to let you out. You can take a look at the 360 image showing Room 304.

A very comfortable stay at this hotel. Excellent location, right opposite the castle and a 5 minute walk from the river and the theatre. We upgraded to a deluxe room for some extra space, which did not disappoint. The bed was big and comfy, the air con worked. The bathroom had a heated towel rail (which you could turn off). A big waterfall shower, complimentary toiletries. A Nespresso machine (but no pods) mentioned this at checkout and got the upgrade fee deducted. Which we thought was very reasonable. Friendly and polite staff at both check in and check out. Definitely come back if we stay in Windsor again.

So close to Windsor Castle, it is literally across the road. The staff are so helpful and ready to have a chat and help with information on what to see and where to eat. They helped with parking as well. Chris, Ali and Matthew were standout staff members and all respectful of their colleagues. We were able to walk everywhere. The Castle was closed so we would love to go back and stay here again. Thank you to all the staff at the McDonald Windsor Hotel you are exceptional.

Had a great two night stay here for a wedding at the Guild Hall, which was perfect and just a 30 second walk from the main door of the hotel. Our view was also spectacular and breathtaking, allowing us to see part of the castle and the busy street below. The majority of staff here were excellent and couldn’t be more accommodating. The only thing to note is the hotel car parking. It is Β£35 a night, which is very expensive but convenient due to the location and ease of access. However, after receiving a notification that my car was unlocked - what they failed to mention is that the concierge could move my car as and when they wanted to (I assume for emergencies) and apparently it is stated in their T&C’s. I then spoke to the man who had moved my car, he said that he had to move my car as a bigger car was coming later on and was in a slightly bigger spot for it. (Which I was initially annoyed at as I specifically parked in that spot and needed easy access to my car to get things out of the boot for the wedding but had to take it on the chin). The main issue was that they left my car UNLOCKED for anyone in the car parking area who could have potentially taken anything from my car. We made this known to the staff that it’s unacceptable and they were in total agreement. If it wasn’t for the issue above my experience would have definitely been 5/5 stars!
