This is more than just a cafe, not only because of its charming and cozy tea room, but also because it's the perfect place to enjoy delicious cakes, biscuits, and desserts. Wow! In one of my Instagram stories I wrote "we're not in Tesco anymore" and I stand by that. The whole experience was simply delightful. A true hidden gem in London.

I came to Richmond to visit Kew Gardens and booked an afternoon tea for four here. We had the most lovely and delicious experience. Cakes, quiches, scones, clotted cream, big tea selection, the works. The staff were so nice, helpful, and efficient. It was a beautiful Saturday in September and the place was not too busy. The quality and presentation was better than most afternoon tea spots in London (city center) and at least 1/3 the price… I will be back.

I really enjoyed the afternoon tea here. The food was delicious — fresh and beautifully presented — and the service was excellent, with staff who were attentive and friendly. My favorite was the passion fruit cheesecake, which was so refreshing, and the scones were wonderfully soft. The peach tea was also delightful and paired perfectly with the treats. What impressed me most was how stunning the restaurant is; the elegant setting made the whole afternoon tea experience truly special. I’d love to come back again!

We had high tea here on Saturday. Food is overall good. It’s just the coffee eclair is too sweet for me to finish at once. Scones are soft and fluffy. Friendly and prompt service. Cozy environment. Love the decoration in this cafe. Reservation is recommended on weekends.

I have been coming to Maids of honour for 17 years. I am so sad to see how much it has changed. My friend and I visited for a high tea and a savoury tea and it was poor. The sandwiches were cheaply made and stingy. The scones were clearly a day old and stale. The jam and cream were stingy, not to mention the cream had a weird foamy texture. The tea was also a tea bag and not tea leaves, which is a shame. The cheese and onion pasty was lovely, however. It’s clear they had to bring the quality down, but at £28 a head I don’t think that’s right. I don’t think I’ll be visiting for an afternoon tea again. I’ll leave picture of the tea I had last to this year, just to see how much it has changed.

Love love love! One of the best English afternoon tea I have had in London! We were lucky to take the last round table on that afternoon after visiting the Kew Garden. Staffs were very friendly, either on phone or in person The afternoon tea set was awesome. Savory sandwiches came with various flavors; scones were perfect with the clotted cream and jam; sweets were just right, not too sweet, not too plain We had a set with champagne, and another savory set plus an additional pot of tea to share. It’s a wonderful portion for four. The salmon quiche was one of our favourites! Please do try!

The Food was lovely and the atmosphere is calm and intimate, just what we had hoped for. Perfect setting for our family (6 adults 2 children) to escape the world for a while and just enjoy good food and drink. We enjoyed pastries both savoury and sweet, as well as cakes and hot drinks too. Our visit was made super special by Nevi who looked after us. She was so wonderful checking availability of dairy free options for my children, she had all the answers to our questions. We will definitely return and hope to see Nevi again, such beautiful service and care provided from her! Thank you so much.

Very much enjoyed a Christmassy afternoon tea. Visited for the second time. Lovely decor and atmosphere, wonderful desserts. Mains are very traditional British, meaning for most people they lack spices or even salt. The staff are great and friendly, but the place is always understaffed and the poor waiters are running around to try and serve the seated guests and the counter simultaneously. Of course that results in slow service. From my experience they also often don't have some items on the menu. While improvements could be made, I would recommend visiting the place at least once for the special experience.

Newens is my family's favourite tea house in London. The service is outstanding, the food is delicious (it feels the scones melt in our mouths) and the atmosphere is excellent. Whenever we go to Kew Gardens, we drop by Newens. During lockdown, we even had high teas delivered at home - they arrived in the expected time and the standard was as high as usual. Keep up the incredible work!

We visited this past bank holiday weekend. Although it was packed, we were made to feel so welcome and were sat down very quickly. We had the ‘special’ afternoon tea - the chicken pie and sausage roll were delicious, can’t say the same about the sandwiches. They were so bad. However, the scones and cake selection more than make up for this! Lovely setting, excellent service (a big thank you to Mark) we will definitely be back.
