Food was ok, but they got our order wrong and we had to send it back. Real kicker is that it turns out the car park is paid, and we've landed a £100 fine despite being paid guests. No one mentioned we had to register our number plate at the bar, and the signage in the dark wasn't clear. Have never been to a pub where you have to do this, and surprised the staff didn't point out - we were asked four times about allergies and not told once about parking. You'll see a series of reviews from people who have had the same experience. Wouldn't bother going back.

Have been a loyal customer of this pub for years along side family and friends , never would I, or others, expect to have to put in my license plate into a screen to spend money in a local business. Buying a drink with my daughger after a long dog walk has now cost me £60 plus the drinks as no one, not one staff member, mentioned that I have to put my reg in. Safe to say i will not be returning and have heard many others will be doing the same. I will now be supporting other local pubs.

Came here for a meal as we were staying at the Marriott down the road before catching a flight from Gatwick, Looks nice from the outside but the interior is not that welcoming. Service was good from the young team who were doing a good job of taking orders and delivering food and drink. Food itself was not particularly good though. Pretty average.

Been in The Star hundreds of times over 35 years. I've lived in the area all my life. Went there for a quick lunch with a friend recently. He received a £100 fine for using the car park. They have very recently changed the rules so you now have to give them your registration number at the bar. While there may be signs up in the car park nothing prominently shows a change. One would expect to be told, at the bar, while paying. This feels like profiteering from a change and I will never go back. They may get £100 from a few of their customers, once, but they won't be back. Very short sighted.

A lovely pub in a great location. Staff very agreeable and accommodating. I had a few issues that were totally resolved swiftly and amicably to my absolute satisfaction. The pub has a great atmosphere and it is busy and welcoming. The room was clean, bed comfortable, not a great view (of the recycling bins) and the bathroom could do with upgrading, but the price reflected that. I would stay here again.

Wonderful pub near to Lingfield (just a short walk from the station). Welcoming and warm. Beer great (had an excellent pint of Harvey's). Went back after the racing and the food was superb too. Understandably popular and can't wait to return.

One of my favourite places for catching up with friends, particularly pre-Christmas. I’ve also stayed in their cabins a number of times, which are clean and perfectly comfortable. Lovely food and breakfast, too. Thank you.

Lovely cosy country pub with a great range of food and drink. Staff were very friendly and helpful and service was prompt. We had one of the BEST meals I've had in any restaurant in a long time! Beautifully cooked pan-seared salmon, followed by creme brulee - I very much recommend them both! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The food was okay but not great. Service is rather impersonal but polite. I would recommend sitting outside if you have young children as there is a super play area. It was a little noisy for us but inside seemed better if you are looking for a quite meal. We had the Sunday roast. It wasn’t bad but slightly disappointing as there were elements missing (such as the carrots and apple sauce which were listed on the menu). Cutlery is help yourself but the baskets were empty. Overall it was okay but I wouldn’t heartily recommend it and we wouldn’t choose to go back. Nice pint of Guinness though.
