Lovely gardens and lake, leading on to the pebble beach of Cold Knap. Car park charges introduced in the Summer 2025 is the only reason for only 4 stars. Even in winter on a sunny day it is lovely walk around, and have coffee or ice-cream from the cafe or shop.
Excellent food and service. Had the fish and chips with mushy peas. Service was good and they helped you with what is on the menu. Had prawn salad for starters with a twist it had crab and some salmon in with it. Excellent. Would recommend to go and have a visit....
Great park for a picnic and a range of nice café for those that did not bring their own food and drink. Close to a beach and the remains of a Roman Villa situated behind the lavatories that are on the side of the beach.
First visit to the gardens and thoroughly enjoyed the walk around the park, the lake and on to the pebble beach. Was able to park nearby. Cafe and restaurant are next to the gardens
Nice place to visit and close to the stone beach, There are free parking spaces, cafe, shops and some facilities.
Love it here. Park and lake area. Pebbly beach front with views for miles. Sandy beach at the Old Harbour. Good for dogs, walking, families, strolling, people watching. Large flat promenade area if you can't walk too well.
Such a beautiful relaxing place. We started walking from the knap gardens over to Jackson's Bay. This is a costal walk taking in the views at the harbour, flat Holm, Steep Holm, Nell's point, Whitmore Bay, the famous Barry Island beech and finally Jackson's Bay. Mostly flat tarmac tracks, but some walks over sands Such as Whitmore and Jackson's Bay. Fantastic views of a lighthouse and Western Super Mare.
Lovely place to visit, the weather was great on the day and we all enjoyed it. We were able to walk to Watch Tower Bay and back through Knap Gardens before the tide came in. It was a lovely place to have a picnic and take pictures, the Pebble Beach on the other side of the walkway was just fantastic and the scenery quite exquisite. I wish I could have experienced sunset, I can only imagine how beautiful it would look. There's always a next time I guess, one thing I remember noticing was the air.was so crisp and clean and it was really relaxing and refreshing. I would highly recommend a visit if you are in the area, it is well worth the time. Parking might be a bit of an issue but we got there a bit early and were able to park quite close. Don't be put off though as there are still some side roads within walking distance that have no parking restrictions.
Parking in the area is a little scarce but once walking in the area it's lovely. Ducks, Swans and Moor hens a plenty. The lap of the lake is a quick but pleasant walk. Frequent events in the summer time here found posted on the Vale of Glamorgan website or Facebook page.
