Visited The George in St. Braviels in Feb 2024 and had one of the worst meals of my life. Absolutely terrible food (over salted, oily, cold mackerel seemed straight out a supermarket packet). Given the excellent reviews our expectations were not met. Rooms were basic and dated and pub noise carries up, so to me overpriced at £110. Positives were that the pub was full with a good atmosphere, wide selection of beers on tap, lovely location and the local cheeses provided with breakfast were fantastic.

Was passing and stopped for some lunch The staff were really friendly and helpful. The food was superb, well the mixed Cheese board with 7 delicious and very different cheeses. Good range of beers and ciders. We would definitely go again when next in the area.

Possibly the worst food we ever had. My partner vomited after having pulled pork. My fish was definitely not fresh. Potatoes not cooked enough. Salad leaves had little bugs on. Otherwise cute and friendly pub, probably good for a quick pint.

Lovely pub and very nice food, accommodated our children for tea and all reasonably priced. We stayed nearby for a week and came 5 days for drinks, and 3 days for food. Even made me meals that were gluten free.

Fantastic food and top notch service. The went over and above to accommodate our last minute table booking. Super clean pub with a lovely ambience and friendly staff!

I popped in for lunch completely by chance as I was passing and I'm so glad I did. Very hospitable owners/staff and the food is out of this world and the portion sizes very generous. So tasty. Thoroughly recommend.

A good solid pub. Nice staff. Nice beer. Nice food. We had a mid walk pint. Decided to have lunch there too following that pint. We ended up returning for Sunday dinner too. Much better than that Tintern rif raff!

NOT DOG FRIENDLY. We asked whether still serving lunch and if dog friendly. Was told yes to both and advised that the dog friendly area was in the bar area. Then Went to get the dogs out the car, and when bringing them into the pub was told by the landlord that they only let dogs in that don’t shed as they don’t have want to clean up all the time. Our dogs do shed, but not excessively. Seems like they need to decide on their policy and stick to it. We would have quite happily sat outside had it been clear from the start, but the approach from the landlord put us off.

We went for a mid week dinner and were so impressed with the food, I had an amazingly generous portion of scallops and a selection of wonderful home baked breads. A real treat! They were so kind and attentive to our little boy too. A great village pub!
