This is a large house with loads of space and a really interesting layout. You'll enjoy exploring the corridors and doorways. Most of the rooms are very big by modern standards, although there are a couple of smaller single bedrooms. The plumbing is pretty old fashioned - if you want en suite facilities for everyone you'll need to look elsewhere. Don't expect the house to be a showpiece for Georgian interiors - the decor is understated and most of the furniture is modern. That's a good thing in my view: the house is comfortable and it all works nicely. I should mention that the staircases are pretty steep and long, so take that into account if you have mobility issues. On the subject of stairs, see if you can find the "secret" spiral staircase. Not on the ground floor - that's easy; you'll need to explore the corridors and doorways upstairs. There is no TV in the house, but wi-fi is available on all floors. The house is in the grounds of Hampton Court Palace, so you may well interact with the staff there. They are all lovely and incredibly helpful. Also, provided you let the staff know, you can have a wander round the palace after opening hours. After dark it is deliciously creepy! In summary, this is a great place to stay, although the price means you'll probably need to arrange a group of people to share the cost with.

A unique holiday and absolutely worth booking years in advance for. You stay in a large, warm, comfortable and we'll equipped historic home with a private garden which has a palace for a backdrop. Free access to the palace and gardens, free car parking spaces, close to the train station into London and a variety of places to shop, eat and drink, and it's all next to two vast public parklands. Best of all, you can wander round the courtyards and kitchen/chapel corridors at night when no one else is there. The security guards are all friendly and helpful, and nearby 24 hours a day. You get to see a bit of the palace routine behind the scenes too. If you get the chance to stay here, take it - this house will exceed your expectations.

A wonderful base for a few days. Lots of room. A real treat to be "inside" Hampton Court Palace and to be able to wander the gardens with nobody around. The Georgian House itself is big, there's no TV and no open fire which is a bit of a shame, but its warm and spacious. All of the staff at HCP were very friendly and helpful. No ghosts spotted, although we looked hard!
