I joined approximately a year ago, following several years away, with the sole purpose of increasing my strength and fitness. I started with the Forever Fit class, twice a week. Run by Hannah, it was a great reintroduction for me and has definitely helped to get my fitness back. After a few months, I engaged a personal trainer (Victoria) who has helped focus my progress and has given me the confidence to work out alone. She's approachable, incredibly supportive and encouraging. I do however have a couple of points. The ladies toilets have, on several visits been dirty and had no toilet roll. If a class is cancelled with less than 4 hours notice, a charge is made. Understandable, but when the class is early, this can be impossible to do. Luckily, the one time I had to cancel, the receptionist very kindly repaid the charge. All I need to do now is get back in the pool!

Giving 5 stars due to the professionalism of the staff - would like to especially mention Julie and Zain who have been exceptional in supporting at the front-desk and in the gym respectively. Give em a raise (no they didn't bribe me ;) ). Management needs to look into the issue of overcrowding in the gym due to unchecked new signups recently. I have had to avoid going in on certain days of the week due to the same which has affected my otherwise good workout regime. Many other regulars have echoed the same concern. Also, the swimming pool cleaning quality has gone down too recently - needs to be immediately sorted out. Thanks.

Great gym with really helpful and friendly staff! I’ve had such a positive experience training here. A special mention to Zain, my PT ! It has been amazing having him guide me through my fitness journey. Zain has been so supportive, motivating, and knowledgeable, not just with training but also in teaching me about food and nutrition. I really appreciate everything he’s done and look forward to continuing my progress with him. Highly recommend both the gym and Zain!

I first started visiting William Penn a couple of years ago when my son joined the swimming lessons. This year, I decided to become a member myself to focus on my own health and wellbeing β€” and I couldn’t be happier with my decision. The centre is always clean and well-maintained, and the overall environment is welcoming and positive. The staff are friendly, and the quality of service is exceptional. I’m particularly impressed by the wide range and variety of fitness classes on offer. However, I would suggest adding extra sessions for some of the more popular classes, as it can be quite difficult to find an available slot at times. I also use the gym regularly and train with my personal trainer, Zain, every Sunday. He takes the time to understand my health concerns and fitness goals, and tailors each session accordingly. His guidance, motivation, and accountability have been instrumental in keeping me on track and pushing me towards my transformation goals. Overall, my experience at William Penn has been fantastic, and I plan to continue my PT sessions with Zain next year as well. I highly recommend this leisure centre to anyone looking for a clean, supportive, and motivating environment to improve their health and fitness.

The centre is nice, the staff members are all lovely and the general atmosphere is good. There's plenty of classes to choose from, and the ones I did go to were great! Quite a lot of families with children, which is lovely to see too! However, I've decided to cancel my mebership nonetheless. I have joined mainly for swimming and sauna, but unfortunately, the 20p charge per single locker use put me off. I realise it's not a groundbreaking amount, but forgetting something from your locker just once means you're spending 40p extra for that day's use of the facilities. Especially as some days I originally planned to come in after work, with a large bag, so the extra coinage is unavoidable. Now, as a result, I've noticed a few other customers carrying their bags around with them to the pool and sauna, which isn't an issue but perhaps using a membership card to close the lockers or having the 20p return after each use would be more popular and make the space appear more tidy. Now, this isn't the centre's fault, but the sauna door tends to be left open (propped with a sign by other customers), allowing people with non-sauna memberships in, who haven't done the booking and overcrowding the limited space. I've booked my sauna session last week and found myself sitting outside waiting for others to leave so I could use the facilities (there was no comfortable space to sit in). I will say, a staff member did show up eventually to check the names, so I was glad for it, though by then I'd already spent some time waiting. I also understand I could have fetched someone myself, and will do so should this happen again. Just to note for attention on both sides, as rowdy crowds is not exactly what you might be looking for in a steam room/sauna. The main pool is great, however, there's a lot of children also using it so hard to exercise as an adult. Nobody's fault, but it isn't for me. If you're like me and looking for simple use of swim lanes, you might want to consider another place for it.

fortunately have only been a member for around 2 months on most of my visits will use sauna and steam room however have been unable to use either even when booking and getting a wrist band however today has been the worst the experience having 12 people in the sauna when should be a maximum of eight wristband rules are not I'mplemented so what is the point having them

Great gym equipment. Shame about the rave music. Unless you’re going to start selling ecstasy at reception, please play something more suitable for a cardio workout. 104-112 BPM is good, 135 BPM just induces a heart attack.

Always nice to have a local gym with spa facilities so close. Easy parking for bicycles and car. Now the gym has grown

Was a member for a few years. Really enjoyed the gym, classes and the pool. Sadly I left due to the membership team. My membership was due to end and was contacted by another everyone active gym first (hats off to them for their swiftness) asking if I want to continue. My price had gone up which I was hoping to discuss. When the guy who deals with membership at William Penn finally bothered to reply to me there was no discussion to find a better price. So what is the point of having an employee deal with membership. Put it all online, be alot quicker if there is no compromise on price. Save money for more equipment. They don't start till 11am, I'd suggest you at least do some days early. Rest of the team at William Penn are great and incredibly helpful. Two stars lost due to lack of effort on membership team.

Given a 5 because I love it, the staff are really lovely and helpful. *BUT* Guys the drinks machine has been out of action for over a week. PLEASE can you fix it. Also would love a coffee machine or the cafe to be open all day. After my early morning workout I'd love to grab a drink/breakfast/roll something.
