Been coming here for years, unfortunately despite years of promises of how the facilities would improve this simply has not happened, You now cannot use the spa until after 10 am and you have to book just to be able to use the sauna! They have grown the complex without improving the facilities, The shop that used to be a standalone shop was excellent, but now it’s completely rubbish in the side of a restaurant! It’s such a shame as it has so much potential to be amazing but it’s just a let down. God forbid you take more than one car then the fun really starts with trying to park…

What a special and great place this is. We stayed here end of November, in a 4 bedroom house 12 of us, close to all amenities. The facilities are great and clean, its safe as it has security at the gates.Limited parking next to the houses, but plenty of parking a short walk away. We booked the football pitch a few times ( great to have and book in advance ) , the heated outdoor pool is great, has showers and changing house next to it as well. The indoor softplay needs booking way in advance as was fully booked over that weekend. The indoor pool was great but need to book in advance as you will not get spaces ( can only book the day before ). Great location, plenty of things to do, restaurant and caffee on site has great optins ( dog friendly ).

Just at the end of a 7 night break & overall have enjoyed our stay but with some concerns and niggles. The accommodation on Howells Mere was great for us although the property itself is a little tired so lets hope they dont try and hold back some of the deposit for lots of existing wear & tear...it probably is in need of some refurb. The location was perfect although we got unlucky with heavy rain on some days which likely caused the spa pool to be like a rugby scrum at swim slots - they really do need to rethink the current strategy...make the bookings shorter with less people per slot? We must have been at capacity on my turn with lots of young children jumping about and as the bottom of the pool is so dark I dread to think what could happen if someone lost sight of their small child...it was crammed full. With only 2 usable showers as one must have a broken thermostat (scaldingly hot even turned to cold) and the lockers full it wasn't a fun experience. A pool attendant gave a cursory quick walk through once. I enjoyed the outside pool more as it was much quieter and just as warm once in the water. My concern being the bottom of the pool is full of leaves which weren't cleared at all while on our stay as the piles just grew in size. The filters were blocked with huge piles of slimy leaves so Im not sure how safe the water is. Ive had a bit of a tummy upset so hopefully not picked up anything nasty. Ballihoo food was good albeit pricey for what you get and service wasn't really with a smile so didnt repeat the experience but I guess we all have bad days & the guy just looked really hassled. Its all very pretty and quiet with lovely walks weather permitting and overall our stay was pleasant.

We've just returned after spending the weekend at Lower Mill Estate for my wife's birthday and it was absolutely wonderful! The property we stayed in, Howells Mere 95, was nothing short of stunning. From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the breathtaking views that surrounded us. The house itself was beautifully designed, spacious, and incredibly well-equipped – it really felt like a home away from home. One of the highlights of our stay was the hot tub, which the kids absolutely adored. They also loved the swimming pool in the wellness centre – it was the perfect way to unwind after a day of exploring. The facilities on the estate are top-notch, and there's a real sense of peace and tranquility that makes it the ideal spot for a relaxing getaway. We truly had the best time and can't recommend this place enough. We will definitely be returning for another stay. Whether you're looking for a family-friendly retreat or a peaceful escape, Lower Mill Estate is the perfect choice.

We stayed here as a group of friends with small kids for a weekend. The house we stayed in (in Clearwater) was beautiful and a great house for our group - stunning lake views and very peaceful. It was perfect for cooking big family meals and playing games in a lovely setting. The facilities onsite though were not great. Sold as ‘spa and pool access’, we were disappointed with the facilities. The pool and spa access is only available in 1 hour time slots (including showering time), which gets booked up v quickly and was stressful to Coordinate a big group for. The pool was far too busy with queues for the sauna and a tiny changing room with only showers. The steam room was out of action. We tried the second outdoor pool which does not require booking, which was lovely but the changing facilities were poor and the sauna was also out of action. Lots of tennis courts available. Walks around the site and the ‘nature walk’ were also disappointing as there are very limited lake views - all the houses face the lakes so all the walks are around the backs of the houses instead. It feels very overpopulated and that the number of houses vs outdoor space and facilities is out of proportion. We did visit in November so maybe there are a lot more facilities in the summer. Overall, a great and very convenient place to stay in wonderful houses, but mainly if you don’t really want to leave the house.

Stayed here last year and was amazing. A beautiful part of the world, and the site was very well kept. The house we rented was very nice and had everything you could need. The swimming pool and sauna on site was very nice to use. Highly recommend this place!!

Beautiful place, lots of sporting activities available in perfect surroundings. Lots of wildlife to be seen quite literally on your doorstep. Stunning selection of properties with more being built.

Gorgeous estate, definitely planning another trip next year! The facilities on site are great, the house we stayed in was beautiful! We rented kayaks for the weekend and going round the lakes was just the best experience.

Avoid Garden Villa Lodge and Lakeside Spa Holidays. Property is dirty and in poor state of repair. The property is marketed as luxury accommodation and the charges reflect this but our visit was spoilt by the general poor state of repair and inadequate cleaning. The attached photos show some of the issues which included; • many cobwebs inside and out • dirty windows inside and out • rusty, unhygienic toilet brush holders • missing light bulbs • broken shower control • all clocks require new batteries • dirty, neglected outside areas which included weeds, old leaves, rusty fittings etc. • deck area damaged by barbeque and not repaired or even swept to remove burnt wood • spiral staircase out of use and cordoned off with tape • gate on deck tied up with baler twine adding to general air of neglect • worn out furniture and mouldy cushions on sun loungers • missing controls on hot tub The photographs and video used on the website are not recent and probably date from when the property was new. This is misleading and it is clear that the property has received very little ongoing maintenance since new. Lakeside Spa Holidays take no responsibility for the problems (you should read their terms and conditions very carefully before parting with any money) and passed my complaint on to the owner. I was initially offered a discount on a future booking which I declined and asked for a cash refund. This was ignored until I informed the owner of my intention to take them to court at which point a refund was authorised immediately! We have stayed in much better properties at a fraction of the cost and would never rent a property from Lakeside Spa Holidays again.
