We had such a lovely experience at Red Lantern! The atmosphere is really cozy and welcoming, and our waitress was super friendly and polite she made us feel right at home. The food was incredible. The duck was out of this world so authentic and full of flavor. Honestly, everything we tried was delicious. You can tell they really care about the quality and authenticity of their dishes. If you’re looking for great food and a friendly, relaxed vibe, this place is a must. We’ll definitely be coming back!

Do not order anything from here!!! We had a delivery, and to be fair it was on time. Now that's all the positives over let's talk about the negatives... All the food was completely bland, no flavor what do ever. My wife's beef chow mein had a few slices of beef and was 80% full of fat. We ordered as we had £12 off our first deliveroo order...it will be our last!!! You need to seriously question people's taste buds that have given 5 stars! Check out the one stars and avoid! 'Beef' chow mein pictured with the few slivers of Beef picked out.

We ordered takeaways which included 3 rice items and 2 gravies( one each of pork and chicken) on Deliveroo..Even though both gravies were differently named with one even being called spicy, both tasted remarkable similar. A bit too sweet according to my palate. Quantity for the price also seemed inadequate for the rice items especially. I feel they need to work on the taste as well as quantity if the prices are in the current range.

Ordered from this place because I was doing deliveroo for the first time and it was £12 off a £20 order. Well so thought I’d treat myself and ordered young chow fried rice, crispy chilli beef, chips and ribs coming to £28 (only paid £16 thank goodness) and the food was awful. Chips dry and over cooked, young chow fried rice just wasn’t and chilli beef tasteless. Ribs were edible. I love Chinese food but this wasn’t nice at all so this is my first and last experience of The Red Lantern. In my opinion a complete waste of money, do not bother. I wish I had read the reviews first.

I ordered Chinese special rice .. I don’t know what I got . Horrible packaging .. food tasted more like Indian food not Chinese (no offence to Indian food). If I wanted Indian I should have rested from a proper Indian menu instead. Rice was dry .. packed with tumeric. Never ordering again. Infact it’s cancelled. Definitely one of the worst Chinese I have had in Plymouth. In general I think Plymouth lacks good restaurants. I am yet to see any tbh . Response: How can you say I ordered special fried rice and that’s why it feels like Indian??. Please is Chinese special fried rice meant to taste like Indian food at all? Isn’t it Chinese food you sell? Perhaps why don’t you try master chef or dragon house to know how Chinese special fried rice should taste like.

Delicious dim sum for starter every time I visit. Main dishes have always been super tasty. Chef will make a dish mild instead of hot no problem.

I love that place. We dine here often and were never disappointed. My favourite dishes are the crispy aromatic duck and prawns with chilly and asparagus. It feels like an authentic Chinese restaurant. It’s an absolute must - go.

Worrying reviews but thought we would give this Chinese a go. Chips looked and tasted recycled from the day before? Chilli beef was tough but noodles were tasty. Chicken curry was tasty but rice was globulated. To summarise, I won't be ordering from here again as plenty of better restaurants available for the price.

Deserves No Stars. The Red Lantern in Plymouth. 45 minutes to be asked if we wanted a drink. Keith's back being slammed by the door by the delivery people. May as well have had "the table for two" in the lobby. We eventually were moved only to be isolated from other diners. Keith's face says it all, "the waiting is the hardest part" When the food finally arrived it was actually not that bad, well you cannot fu#k up rice surely? Part of the food I was eating was swiped away as soon as we paid. I nearly said "Hey! I was still eating that"! So to sum up, it's OK if you like sitting in "Deliveroo City".
