I have been a regular customer of this restaurant for several years, but the value for money has deteriorated significantly. Prices have risen steadily while portion sizes have noticeably decreased, to the point where the cost seems rather unjustified. At the point of payment, we were confronted with an unexpected and supposedly “obligatory” service charge that had not been disclosed AT ALL in advance. Even if such a charge had been transparently communicated, it would have been difficult to justify given the poor standard of service we experienced; simple requests were always met with irritation and impatience. When we challenged this charge, noting that consumer law does not permit undisclosed mandatory fees to be imposed after the fact, the manager and his minion insisted it was compulsory because it was the New Year and that such a charge should therefore be “expected.” This explanation was both illogical and deeply concerning, especially when it was laced with contempt as if we were beggars at their table. What followed then was an alarming display of unprofessionalism. Rather than addressing our concerns in a respectful or lawful manner, staff became increasingly rude and hostile when we asserted our right not to pay a surprise charge. The justification for the fee shifted repeatedly, further undermining any credibility they might have had. The entire interaction was unsettling and left us feeling as though we were being pressured by people operating in bad faith. There was no acknowledgement of wrongdoing, no sense of accountability, and no attempt at resolution. It is clear that this establishment is willing to exploit its customers financially wherever possible. Given the declining value, poor service, and disregard for basic consumer rights, I cannot recommend this restaurant and will not be returning.

Seated straight away for a midweek lunch, tried the dim sum. It was nice, the individual pieces were quite large, 3 dishes for 1 person would be sufficient!

We ordered special fried rice, beef chow mein, honey roast pork - which was exceptional, salt and pepper chips.... but the star of the show was the chicken curry - the flavour in the sauce was absolutely outstanding and the best we'd ever had!!!! Lovely family business, great, attentive service - would definitely visit again if we're in the area ❤️

We had a fantastic meal at Man’s Restaurant in Nottingham. The staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive throughout, making the whole experience feel warm and welcoming. The food was outstanding — fresh, beautifully presented, and full of flavour. We tried the vegetarian Cheung Fun, vegetable dumplings, minced vegetables with lettuce, and custard buns. Everything was delicious, but the minced vegetables with lettuce stood out as a real highlight — perfectly seasoned, light, and full of texture. The custard buns were also a lovely sweet finish to the meal. Overall, Man’s Restaurant offers top-quality Chinese cuisine with excellent service. Highly recommended, especially for vegetarians looking for authentic and well-prepared dishes.

Visited here due to the reviews we saw on trip advisor and wish we hadn't. Ordered Crispy duck to start, and it was so crispy we don't think there was any fresh duck in the dish. It seemed to be just skin and very dried duck. For mains, we had the duck in plum sauce that was lovely, but the crispy chilli beef didn't seem to be containing much beef. The staff didn't seem to be bothered with their very few customers, and we were not asked if everything was okay. Couldn't fault the prawn crackers, but there was nothing special about the special rice, and the Singapore rice noodles were overcooked and without any spice. We felt everything was overpriced, and we will definitely not be returning or recommending this restaurant to anyone.

Excellent food! They provide very very authentic Cantonese food (proven by me who is a native HK person). Friendly staff. Although slightly pricey, it's certainly worth it! Our family goes here regularly for dim sum and dinner, both are amazing! Strongly recommended. Remember to book a table in advance as it's a busy restaurant.
