Feels disappointing to write this, my family has used Joy King for years and has always had good food but yesterday the food was just not good and felt like a massive waste of our takeaway budget. Crispy Beef was very soggy and did not taste right Sweet and sour sauce for the Chicken Balls was a very odd taste and very watery as opposed to their usual gloppy goodness Prawn curry had very few prawns Lemon sauce for the chicken tasted very sweet but had a bitter aftertaste Plum sauce had a really off smell, not sure what was in it but didn't taste it. I won't write Joy King off but was a bit sad about spending Β£40 on a take away and to not enjoy it.

Tried this establishment as the usual was closed. I wouldn't recommend the crispy chilli beef it wasn't crispy and smelt like vinegar, the rice was average and had a burnt taste. I tried giving the dog the left over rice and he didn't want it either. Bad times.

First time visiting Joy King (I usually go Golden Bridge down the road which is excellent! But unfortunately it was closed being a Tuesday) Safe to say I wonβt be buying food from Joy King again! The food was cold and tasteless, like it had been headed up from the weekends leftovers. Really disappointed, when you pay for food you expect it to at least be fresh and hot.

We got 2 sweet and sour with chicken balls and 1 rice. Cash only and the food was terrible I would have got better if I had bought a cheap supermarket meal

We came here for a quick lunch with over an hour a half to spare before our theatre shows, ordered dim sum and mains. The mains came, we wanted to save our appetite for the dim sum, told them we were in a rush, can we take the rest of our mains away (they charged 50p per container, but OK) Several minutes later they asked will that be all? I told them we were waiting for dim sum. I should've cancelled at this point, but made the mistake of politely asking unless they're on their way? Five minutes, she lied. This was confirmed when another lady came to say the server had crashed and our order hadn't gone through. Again I tried to cancel but she assured five minutes. To speed things along, I paid up, so we could eat quickly and rush off. This was a mistake as they clearly hadn't started preparing our order, just wanted to keep our money. Almost 25 minutes, we put our coats on and started to leave (regretting already paid) when the food arrived. My daughter politely asked them to pack it quickly (lucky for them they didn't dare try to charge 50p per container again) and handed it us with no apology. Dim sum isn't something that keeps and we didn't want to smell out the theatre, so we handed a homeless person 35 pounds worth of dumplings. What bothers me most is when I told the lady we ordered our food ages ago I got the response "yeah yeah yeah" Left a sour and definitely not sweet taste to our theatre outing

This was the worst meal I have ever had from a takeaway, let alone an Asian takeaway. It is quite awful, bland, gristle and fat with a complete lack of Chinese flavour? After a mouthfuls I threw it into the bin, it wasn't even edible. Feel really cross that I paid for that. Phoned to talk them to make a complaint and there is no answer. Its very, VERY bad.

Conveniently located on the Ivybridge high st they offer a good selection and reasonably priced takeway meals. I'd recommend phoning your order in to save hanging around.
