Pub looked small from the outside but as you went inside it just carried on going on and on. 3 small rooms on the left and corridoor on the right where in places you can stand and have a drink. This corridoor leads to the outside area into a small courtyard and a fairly extensive car park as well. Some small steps to be wary off so not fully wheelchair friendly but all in all not a bad place. Found out that this place is nicknamed the stump by the locals.

Also known as the stump. Small front but goes back a way. As you walk in you are in a long corridor that has 3 rooms on the left. Mind the little steps everywhere. Bar in the first 2 rooms. I stood and drank in the corridor as all the rooms were very hot. Has nice out door area with a sheltered smoking place.

My wife and I made our first visit to 'The Stump' ( Mount Pleasant) since the 1980's . After a recommendation on Facebook we decided to call in for a late night drink after playing Bridge. The Mount Pleasant is open until 23:00 and serves until 22:45 . We had checked on the Real Ale Finder site that the Mount Pleasant regularly updates and found that they had an interesting Abbeydale Hazelnut and Coffee Stout on. They regularly change 9 of the real ales that they have on offer and a chalk board lists the beers and prices . The Mount Pleasant has a long ( thin) layout with a car park ( also long and thin on its right hand side ) . We accessed the pub via a rear door from the car park . A covered smoking deck is at the back then the single door access ( with a single step) leafs into a corridor that runs the length of the pub with single doorways to enter the front and rear bar rooms . The pub was warm and friendly with a group of people at another table enjoying snack type food . We had a half of the Abbeydale Stout and were pleasantly surprised by the price of only £3.90 for a pint of this 5.2% strength Stout. We enjoyed it so much we squeezed in another half before closing time . The service was friendly and when I mentioned that the last time we visited the Mount Pleasant was in the 1980's the landlady jokingly replied that she was not even born then. It is not surprising that The Mount Pleasant is in the 2025 Camra Good Beer Guide . We both enjoyed our visit and would highly recommend The Stump as a 'must visit ' if you are in the area .

Lovely old fashioned pub with the beer being number one on the landlords offerings. Trevor makes the place but can appear abrupt. Dog friendly in front bar too.
