DON'T THINK - JUST BOOK!! I honestly don’t have the words to do this 18-course omakase justice. We came for my girlfriend’s birthday (Saturday lunch), and from the moment we arrived it felt special. They were incredibly accommodating with dietary requirements. we mentioned it as we walked in and the team immediately adjusted several courses, even substituting different fish without any fuss. That level of flexibility and care really stood out. The food itself was exceptional. Every course was beautifully judged and unforgettable: rich fatty tuna and delicate lean cuts, outstanding Scottish scallops, Welsh uni, and tuna from Spain — each ingredient showcased at its absolute best. It’s rare to be genuinely lost for words, but this was one of those meals. Service was impeccable throughout: warm, polished, and highly professional. Each course was thoughtfully explained, which only added to the experience. The room is intimate without being showy — elegant, refined, and perfectly balanced. Nothing feels forced or ostentatious, just quietly excellent. Thank you for making it such a memorable and special day. We’ll be talking about this meal for a long time!!!

I had an amazing omakase experience at Maru London. The 19-course menu was absolutely delicious — every dish was beautifully crafted, and you really do leave feeling full and satisfied. The whole dining experience was exceptional. One detail I loved was that before the meal, we were invited to choose our own chopsticks, which we could take home afterward. It’s such a thoughtful touch and made the evening feel even more special. With only nine seats, the atmosphere feels very exclusive. The head chef is not only skilled but also handsome and genuinely funny, and the sous chef is equally great. They create the perfect balance — making you feel comfortable even if you dine alone, while never interrupting the dining experience. A truly memorable and unique omakase. Highly, highly recommend!

I visited Maru alone, and it turned out to be the best sushi experience I’ve had in London. The staff were exceptionally welcoming and professional, and every course in the omakase was beautifully crafted. The tea pairing matched perfectly with the dishes and elevated the whole meal. I found the experience truly worth the price and would highly recommend it.

With a background in kaiseki, Chef Yasu’s cooking always carries a strong sense of seasonality. This visit, set at the turn of summer to autumn, saw two styles of plating shift from vivid colours to the muted tones of fallen leaves, wheat, chestnuts and early autumn earth. The restaurant focuses on ageing, and the highlights were unmistakably the scallop and squid. Although Japanese ingredients in China are far superior to London’s in general, the flavour developed from this ice-water ageing technique was surprisingly deep and expressive. Inaniwa Udon ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Intense katsuobushi umami with a touch of sudachi’s bright sweet–sour freshness. Hand Roll ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Crisp nori, creamy minced tuna, rich and silky — packed with pure umami. Anago (Saltwater Eel) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The exterior soaks up the sweet, glossy sauce; the eel is tight-grained and delicate with a hint of sansho. Scallop ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Soft and sticky after ageing, with concentrated natural sweetness. Hirame ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Clean and refreshing, faint acidity opening into a gentle sweetness. Buri ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Light fat, elegant umami, and the distinctive aromatic heat of yuzu kosho. Zucchini Blossom Tempura ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Deep mushroom aroma; the shell is crisp with a mild natural sweetness. A5 Wagyu Tartare ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Beef fat laced with subtle truffle aroma; the tart shell is crisp and the umami full. Ika (Squid) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Finely cut and aged until soft, intensely sweet with a savoury edge. Akami ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Thickly layered, meaty and full of deep, concentrated umami. Uni ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Cold, silky, sweet, with shiso and nori aromatics. Amadai (Scale-On Grill) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Crisp salty scales, delicate slightly sweet flesh, and mushrooms (shiitake, maitake) sautéed into a savoury, aromatic mix. Wagyu ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A5 fillet breaded and fried, dipped in Nagoya hatcho miso — surprisingly reminiscent of Shaoxing stinky tofu in the best way. Tender and flavour-packed. Kakigōri ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Plum and lime — tart, sweet and icy refreshing. Langoustine ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Charcoal notes mixed with sansho leaf fragrance; rich tomalley and crisp-sweet meat. Aburi Ōtoro ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Rendered fat aroma with a touch of Himalayan salt. Fatty Tuna Roll ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Rich umami and fat in one satisfying bite. Chicken Sandwich ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Crisp bread, sweet–tart nanban sauce, firm and tender chicken. Kinako Ice Cream ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Financier shaped like a madeleine — warm, soft and sweet. Ice cream smooth and delicate, reminiscent of fresh soy milk. Fig Monaka ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Light sweetness with the gentle aroma of mochi wafers. Total bill: £269.1 Recommendation score: 9.2/10

First omakase experience with Maru at London! Went during lunch on a Saturday noon. The omakase was thoughtfully curated, with each course well-balanced and beautifully presented. The fish was incredibly fresh, and the pacing of the meal felt just right. You can really taste the care and precision that went into every dish. The atmosphere was calm and intimate, and the chef’s interaction added a nice personal touch to the experience. The only downside was the dessert - a bit disappointing and quite boring compared to the rest of the meal. It was just a shaved ice and Mont Blanc, tastes utterly average. Still, a really solid omakase overall and definitely worth trying if you appreciate quality sushi and attention to detail.

Maru is incredible. An intimate dining journey for 6-7 people max, you'll be served a tailor-made meal of some of the finest nigiri, seafood and shellfish I have ever eaten. Chef takes you through each of the 20 courses on offer, making them in front of you with local produce (where possible). It was the best dining experience I have had in London; if you love sushi and seafood, you will be over the moon with your visit to Maru.

Definitely the best sushi I have ever had. Great service throughout. We had the sake pairing which was fantastic with all dishes. The chef explained everything and it was more than just the incredible food, it’s a whole unforgettable experience. PS. Do be aware that service will be added on top of the omakase price at the end. Certainly pricey but every bit delicious :)
